Company Profile HUNTER’S AMBULANCE SERVICE PAST AND PRESENT We would like to thank you for attending our 21st Annual Golf Classic and for all of the support you have given our organization in the general throughout the years. Your support has helped make our family owned Ambulance and Transportation Service the finest in the State for quality and excellence. We believe “The future will reflect the past in service and commitment to Excellence” for our Ambulance and Transportation Service. Our service and commitment to Excellence has been the foundation of the Hunter success story. Below are some of the major events that occurred in the last 47 years at Hunter’s Ambulance: The Foundation of Service Excellence ~ Hunter Family tradition 1963 - Vern and Barbara Hunter, founders of Hunter’s Ambulance Service (established with one 1953 Cadillac Ambulance) 1964 - Completion of 1 st Ambulance American Red Cross Course 1965 - Completion of National Ambulance Training Institute Course in Westfield, MA 1969 - Completion of 1 st National Ambulance Training Course 1971 - Vern Hunter Graduated from 1 st EMT Course in CT. Appointed to the 25 member CT Ambulance Advisory Board by both Gov. Meskill and Gov. Grasso 1974 - First Invalid Wheelchair Vehicle 1975 - Completion of 1 st Advanced Driver Training Program held in Connecticut 1976 - Acquisition of Kamens Ambulance Service of Meriden (Primary EMS provider in Meriden) 1980 - Became on of the 1 st EMT-IV Technicians in CT 1983 - Hunter’s Ambulance Service advanced to the Paramedic Certified Level 1985 - Vern Hunter, 1 st recipient of the Dr. A.E. Hertzler Knox Award, for Excellence of Contributions to EMS in CT. Acquisition of Mayfair Ambulance Service company in Wallingford area. 1986 - Became the Emergency Medical Provider for the Town of Berlin 1989 - Acquisition of Professional Ambulance Service in Middlesex Country (EMS provider servicing Middlefield, Middletown, Portland, and Chester) and Professional Limousine establishing Hunter Limousines. 1994 - Acquisition of Medi Transit Wheel Chair Service in New London County. 1995 - Establishment of Hunter’s Special School Bus Transportation Division. Acquisition of Gary’s Livery Service in New London. Mayor Joseph Marinan declared December 9, 1995 as Vern Hunter Day in the City of Meriden. 1997 - American Ambulance Service, Amby Award, nations highest community service award, “WEB-SAFE KIDS” Interactive Internet Safety Program Acquisition of Southern New England Limousine Service 1998 - Primary daytime service (ambulance) partnership with Cromwell Conn. Fire District. Acquisition of Theo’s Transportation in Hamden. Opened a 11,000 sq. ft. Training & Vehicle Maintenance Center 1999 - Acquisition of Compass Limousine Service in Wallingford 2001 - Purchased new base location in Berlin 2002 - Acquisition of Tours Limousine Service in Cheshire 2003 - Celebrating 40 Years of Service 2008 - Celebrating 45 Years of Service Hunter’s services over 120 Facilities Employs over 475 Employees Maintains a Fleet of 150 Vehicles 12 Corporate Facilities “Concern for Others” Since 1963
