5TH ANNUAL I HEART WALKING EVENT
Monday, February 14 through Thursday, February 17, 2011
Step out from behind your desk and into fitness! Walk with fellow
Bruins to improve your health and the environment during the 5th
annual I Heart Walking event, beginning Monday, February 14 through
Thursday, February 17, 2011. Trek through main campus, discover the
botanical gardens, explore Westwood Village and end with a finale on
the Intramural Field.
Walk with Mrs. Carol Block, UCLA’s first lady, at RRUCLA on Tuesday, February 15!
Walks will be guided by walk leaders, and routes will be broken into two levels
of difficulty. Walking is the perfect means of alternative transportation and fitness!

Electronic Health Record
Our Electronic Health Record (EHR)
initiative is gaining momentum! After a
diligent evaluation process that included
workgroups of UCLA physicians and staff,
Epic Systems was chosen to implement
the EHR for UCLA Health System.
“We appreciate all the hard work that
everyone has put into the selection
process, with a special thanks to those
who participated in the workgroups and
committee meetings,” says Michael L.
Steinberg, M.D., chair, Department of
Radiation Oncology, who serves as chair
of the Executive Oversight Board of the
EHR Initiative.
“The EHR initiative is a collaborative effort
among the physicians, nurses and staff of
the entire UCLA Heath System,” he adds.

UCLA Health System employees showed off their talents during two holiday performances —
one at SMUCLA December 13 and one at RRUCLA on December 15.

National Blood Donor Month.
The variety of acts were cheered on by fellow employees, who received free tickets and enjoyed
pre-performance refreshments. As one performer noted, “We are not only caring, but talented
folk!” Congratulations to the performers, stage crew and the planning committee.
