1. <strong>Policy</strong><br />

Any high school or adult student, who declares a technical training objective, is eligible to enroll in a<br />

course or courses. <strong>Student</strong>s who wish to enroll in a technical training program must meet program<br />

specific enrollment requirements.<br />

2. Transfer <strong>Student</strong>s - Within the Institution Due to the competency-based nature of the Utah<br />

College of Applied Technology (UCAT), student transfers within the Institution are subject to the<br />

instructor’s approval. SWATC coursework completed will be evaluated to determine if it meets any<br />

of the competency requirements of the new program in which the student plans to enroll.<br />

2.1 <strong>Student</strong> Request For Program Transfer <strong>Student</strong>s of Southwest Applied Technology College<br />

may request a change in their training program through the SWATC Program Transfer Request<br />

procedure:<br />

A. All program transfer requests must be accompanied by a completed Program Transfer Request<br />

form available online or from <strong>Student</strong> Services.<br />

B. <strong>Student</strong>s are required to meet with a <strong>Student</strong> Services team member to discuss request.<br />

C. Program transfer requests must be approved by the <strong>Student</strong> Services Director.<br />

D. <strong>Student</strong>s in defined entry courses will be encouraged, <strong>and</strong> on occasion required, to complete the<br />

course prior to transferring to a new program.<br />

E. All students must pay a $5 schedule change fee as required by the campus.<br />

F. <strong>Student</strong>s utilizing federal financial aid will pay any applicable award repackaging fees associated<br />

with the transfer.<br />

3. Transfer <strong>Student</strong>s - From Other Institutions Due to the competency-based nature of the Utah<br />

College of Applied Technology (UCAT), student transfers within the UCAT system will occur seamlessly<br />

as long as the student meets the admission requirements of the new program or SWATC. <strong>Student</strong>s who<br />

transfer <strong>and</strong> request course credit must provide official transcripts <strong>and</strong> any other required reports, records<br />

or evaluation of the credit to the new program’s instructor. For students transferring from outside the<br />

UCAT system, credit transfer is subject to the instructor’s approval.<br />

4. Enrollment<br />

Enrollment in SWATC courses is initiated <strong>and</strong> confirmed via signature by a registered student. All<br />

applicable fees <strong>and</strong> tuition must be finalized prior to enrollment.<br />

5. <strong>Student</strong> Matriculation in a Program<br />

A student will be matriculated in a program upon:<br />

A. Completion of the registration process;<br />

B. Declaring the intention to complete a program;<br />

C. Completion of any required student success course; <strong>and</strong><br />

D. Completion of at least one program competency (course) within satisfactory progress<br />

requirements.


6. Nondiscrimination<br />

SWATC is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination. No otherwise qualified person may be excluded<br />

from participation in or be subjected to discrimination in any course, program or activity because of race,<br />

age, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability.
