on The Peace Chapel at St. Mark’s.
Upon completion, the chapel will
be open 24/7 as a place where
people from all walks of life can
experience the love of God and the
hope of everlasting peace. To learn

New to St. Mark's or interested in joining our church? Please
join us for a Newcomer Gathering tonight Sunday, May 6,
5:30 to 7 p.m. at the home of the Rev. Jim and Karen Cook.
It's a chance to get to know more about St. Mark’s, its clergy
and meet others new to St. Mark’s. Speak with the Rev. Jim
Cook or the Rev. Holly Ostlund following the service to let us
know you’ll be attending.
Today is Cursillo Sunday! Cursillo
(a Spanish word meaning ‘little course’)
gives church members the tools and
"rules of life" to share the joys of knowing
Christ with others in their everyday
environments. Please hold in prayer this weekend’s Cursillo
candidates: Joanna Chumsky, Jane Nunn and Kelly Starling.
Today is the United Thank Offering (UTO)
ingathering. Please place your contributions
in the blue UTO envelopes located in the
pews and the narthex. Checks may be made
payable to St. Mark’s with “UTO” noted in
the memo section. Place UTO envelopes and
boxes in the offering plates or drop off with a vestry
representative at the Welcome podium following the service.
UTO monies support mission and ministry throughout the
world.
Join us for Mother’s Day, next Sunday, May 13. Graduating
high school seniors will provide the sermon at all weekend
services. All mothers attending will receive a rose!
Vacation Bible School registration for church and school
families, and for children in the local community, is underway.
VBS runs from June 11 to 15, 9 a.m. to noon. Open to children
ages 3 (potty trained) through grade 5. The cost per child is
$50. A portion of the registration fee goes towards VBS
scholarships enabling the less fortunate to join in on this
year’s fun. Adult and teen volunteers are needed! To
volunteer, contact Kayla or Caron Morton, 561.622.1763.
Support our St. Mark’s youth by purchasing “stock” for their
summer mission trips! Youth will sell stock, $20 per, through
May 20 following Sunday services. Or, stop by the church
office during the week to purchase. The high school mission
trip to Philadelphia, departs June 30; participants will work
with homeless organizations. The week of July 23, middle
school youth will work with various S. Florida mission
programs, including New Life Children’s Ranch, Okeechobee. A
“stock holders” banquet and Youth Mission Sunday event will
be held in the fall.
In its inaugural year, St. Mark’s MOPS has touched the lives of
many by providing an open, caring and accepting atmosphere
where mothers are able to come together to share with each
other. Special thanks to our 2011‐12 Steering Committee:
Julie Ronan, coordinator; Leni Bane, mentor; Tiffany Cohen,
finance; Catherine Geremia, hospitality; Heather Lockett,
mentor; Leslie Quinlivan, publicity; and Lori Tylander, creative
activities. We also extend our thanks to our volunteer sitters:
Lorraine Di Dio, Jackie Kraus, Cathleen McManus, Michelle

Grace for the Season, Wednesdays 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.:
The Gospel of Luke, led by the Rev. Jim Cook, is a Bible study
providing interpretation, historical and contextual
commentary on Luke. Bring a Bible, any translation, with you.
Life’s Healing Choices, led by the Rev. Holly Ostlund, offers
participants freedom from their hurts, hang‐ups, and habits
through healing choices that promise true happiness and life
transformation.
Mark your calendar for our next Open Gym Night, Thursday,
May 17, 6:30‐8:30 p.m. for adults (ages 18 & up). Come play
basketball, exercise and have some fun!
Safeguarding God’s Children is required for those involved in
St. Mark’s ministries with children, youth, and vulnerable
adults, including Christian education teachers, nursery
volunteers, Eucharistic visitors, youth group leaders, Family
Promise volunteers, faculty/staff and others. This training will
be held Sunday, May 20, 2:00‐5:00 p.m. in the media center.
