Due to the drought, the Board could not find a breeder who was
willing to present the Breeder’s day.
Such day will no longer occur. Breeders are therefore encouraged to
attend the Promotion Day.
Condolences were sent with the death of Arthur de Villiers Sr. He was one of the
first Senior Selectors who conducted selections in Namibia in the early Bonsmara
years in Namibia.
Robbie Dauberschmidt recovered well after he broke his pelvis during his farming
operations.
Congratulations to Hartebeestloop Bonsmara with the record price obtained during
the Hartebeestloop Production Auction with the sale of the bull,
HART 10-0116, for N$ 500 000 to Mr. Christo Botha of Jungfrau Bonsmaras.
SA Stud Book Elite Gala event for Agriculture:
1 May 2013
Nico Visser presented a lecture about the success of
production recording in beef cattle.
Excellent lectures were given by speakers at the
symposium. Genomics is the current buzzword.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Junius Mungunda’s Elite Platinum Cow, GRT 99-0125,
received an award during this event.
Edward Hansen / EMOK Bonsmaras and Hartebeestloop
Bonsmaras finished among the 10 Elite cattle herds of
SA Studbook.

Junior Selectors &
Annual Selection
The Association
can not force a
new breeder to
take part as
Junior Selector
during the Annual
Inspection /
Selection.
However, it is
important that
new breeders get
involved in the
Inspections to
gain experience.
Junior Selectors
should eventually
replace the older
Senior Selectors.
A breeder also
gains a lot of
knowledge and
experience and
this can improve
his own herd.

to numerous
requests and
added “death
from unnatural
causes” to the
“death” option.
