Modern <strong>event</strong> <strong>generator</strong>s were born at DESY,<br />
for <strong>the</strong> PETRA e + e − collider! (1978 − 86, 13 − 46 GeV)<br />
• Combine perturbative picture of hard processes,<br />
involving electroweak and str<strong>on</strong>g interacti<strong>on</strong>s,<br />
with n<strong>on</strong>perturbative picture of hadr<strong>on</strong>izati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
• Provide “complete” <strong>event</strong>s, with parameters to be tuned to data,<br />
and used to study and understand different kinds of physics.<br />
