2) Control in growing period
Set up obstacle to stop crawling up to trees
Jujube looper ( 枣 步 曲 ) overwinters as pupa in soil.
Female adults do not have wings and need to crawl up
trees to oviposit. Before adults emerge in early spring,
set up “5 defense lines”, including “ 绑 、 堆 、 挖 、 撒 、
涂 ”, on the tree base in areas with above average
population numbers, or “3 defense lines”, including ”
绑 、 堆 、 涂 ”, in areas with below average population
numbers. It is very effective in stopping female adults
from crawling up trees to oviposit.
