REMINDERS TO MENTORS:

Remember that you are making a difference and doing a great job - even if you do not
receive this feedback from your mentees!
Send Regular emails to your mentees:
It is a good idea to send a quick email to your mentees to touch base (once a fortnight at
least) and let them know “I am available to support you throughout the semester, so you may
not need any assistance now; however I am here to assist you for the semester so keep that
in mind”
Remember about the number of mentees / amount of contact:
In this program you can have anywhere from 1 to ~15 mentees – remember that some
students enrol late and you may not get contact from all, but this is ok – you need to still keep
in contact with all the mentees that you are assigned to.
Encourage your mentees to complete any Orientation Surveys or University Surveys:
This is the way that we gauge how new students found the Orientation program at Curtin and
how they are going, and how we can help improve future students’ experiences.
Important dates are approaching:
Eg. census dates are usually in March and June, Guild Events, Careers Events etc. Keep an
eye out for info from the Mentor Program Coordinator in your emails!
