This conference reflects growing geopolitical and<br />

business relations between Arab and African<br />

countries. The conference highlights investment<br />

issues and investment opportunities in both Arab<br />

and African countries. There is a pre-conference<br />

banquet on the evening of Monday 12 June<br />

(confirmed after-dinner speaker Sir Malcolm<br />

Rifkind, former UK Foreign Secretary), followed by<br />

a full-day conference on Tuesday 13 th and<br />

Wednesday 14 th June. There will be six break-out<br />

sessions to deal with specific issues on the<br />

afternoon of Tuesday 13 th .<br />

Chairman: Dr Denis Worrall, former South African ambassador to the Australia and the UK. Consultant to The<br />

World Bank, former Vice-Chairman of the International Bank of Southern Africa, and Chairman of Omega Investment<br />

Research.<br />

• Charles de Chezelles, previously of Credit Suisse-First Boston and Banco Real S.A.<br />

• Farouk Mohammed, Senior Partner of Grant Thornton (Dubai).<br />

• Ian Plenderleith, for many years an Executive Director of the Bank of England and recently Deputy<br />

Governor of the South African Reserve Bank<br />

• Günter Steffens, ex-Head of Dresdner Bank (UK and subsequently South Africa)<br />

• Shaikh Alsayed Abdul Khaliq Al-Abed, Chairman of the Middle East International Corporation (MEIC).<br />

In addition to the plenary sessions, six break-away workshops<br />

will focus on specific issues and projects
