In Loving Memory of Tryphena Chambers
‘Phena’
3:pm Wednesday 16 th May, 2012
Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park Chapel
ENTRANCE MUSIC - ELIZABETHAN SERENADE BY ANDRE RIEU
Good Afternoon everyone and on behalf of her adoring family, especially
her husband Don may I welcome and thank you for attending this farewell
to Tryphena Chambers known to all as Phena who after years of conquering
various life threatening illnesses finally succumbed at Hollywood Hospital on
the 6 th of this month surrounded by her immediate family. All her extended
family had been with her on the Saturday and Phena was lucid and able to enjoy
them as well as say goodbye then on the Sunday morning she quietly slipped
away.
My name is Verity James and along with Mareena Purslowe Funerals, can we
thank you for the privilege of being here to guide you through this farewell
today.
As we come together this afternoon, we deliberately leave the rest of the world
outside, so may I invite you to make sure your mobile phones are turned off or
at least turned to silent so that we can truly devote this time to Phena and her
family.
At the outset, I’d like to offer apologies from the family in England who send
their love across the miles but just couldn’t be with us here today. Phena was
such a kind, compassionate lady who would want to help anyone and everyone
– and family was all to her - well almost all! Phena had wanderlust from a very
young age and back in 1958 when she met Don, the man who would become
her husband, (she came in as a temp in the office in Leeds where he worked),
she wasn’t going to be stopped from exploring the world and took off to Israel
to be a secretary to the consul there! Happily they kept in contact, married and
over the years have had some wonderful trips and cruises together. She was a 5
star girl too - none of this bargain basement travel!
Her family has compiled Phena’s story and eulogy and I’d like to invite her son
Andrew to deliver that now pls.
ANDREW SPEAKS

Thanks Andrew. Phena’s daughter Anne has prepared a piece that I’d like to
read on her behalf now.
VJ TO READ ANNE’S WORDS
And last but not least, Phoenix her granddaughter would like to say a few
words.
PHOENIX SPEAKS.
REFLECTION
We’ve come to a part of the service where we pause the words and pictures for
a while so that you can fill your own minds with your own special memories
of Phena. At this time there is a temptation to only think of her illness and
her loss but I really want you to cast your minds back to the great times you
spent together, the fine strong character that was Phena, to think of the things
you’ll miss about her which made up the cornerstones of her personality.
During this time you may care to come and place rosemary, the ancient symbol
of remembrance on her casket. Her family has roses from Anne’s garden to
place with her. So I ask you 2 favours. Could you wait until her family has
been forward to pay their respects pls and also can I ask you to hold your
condolences until after the service when there’ll be plenty of time to share love
and companionship.
PLS PLAY ANNIE'S SONG – BY ANDRE RIEU
Before we come to that time when we say our final goodbye to Phena, we
thought this might be a fitting final tribute from her family.
You came and touched so many hearts
In so many different ways.
You gave so much, and asked very little in return.
There is an emptiness as if a part of us is missing,
But I am sure with time you will show us how to be whole again.
We know you are safe now, and nothing can harm you.
Remember, although we're apart,
We will always be together.
COMMITTAL
We have now reached that time when we say farewell to Phena. If you can
comfortably stand could you do so now pls?

Pls play My heart will go on – instrumental version softly in background.
Tenderly, reverently and with great love we commit the physical body of Phena
Chambers so grateful for the life that has been lived, all that she has meant to us
and knowing her soul is now free.
We are glad for Phena’s life and for our friendship with her.
We’re glad to have seen her beautiful face and felt her strong, capable presence.
We cherish the memory of her words, her deeds and her fine character.
We cherish her intense loyalty to her family and friends
And we cherish her special place in history.
Most of all, you will cherish her love.
Phena, beloved wife and Mum, Nan and dear friend - we release you now with
so much love.
Pls take a seat.
That brings us nearly to the end of our service today. Shortly I’ll invite you to
follow her family through these doors on my left which lead to the condolence
lounge and then you are very warmly invited to join them at Andrew’s house at
21 Killamarsh Place in Carine.
I’d like to leave you with some words that were on a card sent to the family on
the loss of their precious lady that I think are very wise. It’s written by Donna
Fargo
What if the spirit of your loved one has not left you but has moved inside
your heart to live, never to be forgotten? Once we love someone that person
becomes a part of us and remains with us for as long as our memory of them
lasts. Treasure your memories. Try to focus on the time you did have. Let the
blessings that you shared fill you with love, encourage you with comfort and
inspire you to go on. In the silence of your loneliness and as you struggle to
adjust to this loss please know that you're being remembered often.
On behalf of her family thank you for coming to honour Phena and we hope you
go gently and safely on the next stage of your own journey. We have such an
apt last song for Phena as we leave the chapel, Scotland the Brave!
Pls play =- Scotland the Brave
