A. Mansell staff visiting potential sites prior to construction shall have received the 5-Day SMSTS<br />

Course or the 2-Day Positive Safety Management Course<br />

<strong>Control</strong> <strong>Arrangements</strong><br />

B. Before carrying out a pre-construction visit, form SS-FM-44 must be completed and signed by the<br />

member(s) of staff visiting and by their Line Manager. On completion of the visit the form must again<br />

be signed by the visiting member(s) of staff and returned to the Line Manager<br />

C. Permission must be sought from the site owner before entering a site. Where possible the visit should<br />

be attended at all times by a representative from the site owner<br />

D. No person shall enter a dangerous structure<br />

E. PPE shall be worn at all times as required by SCRA 10<br />

F. Where possible visits should not be conducted alone (See SRCA 47 - Lone Working)<br />

G. A means of communication will be available, at all times, between the lone visitor and their Line<br />

Manager<br />

H. Mansell staff entering a site must make themselves aware of any hazards present prior to entry,<br />

including but not limited to<br />

The presence of asbestos<br />

The presence of contaminated land<br />

No go or dangerous areas<br />

The location of existing holes through floors<br />

The location of existing live services<br />

Fire escape routes/Emergency procedures<br />

Excavations<br />

Health hazards such as needles, excrement etc<br />

I. Where works are ongoing on the site by other contractors then visitor(s) must report to the principal<br />

contractor’s office and receive a site induction<br />

J. Confined spaces must not be entered<br />

K. Roofs shall only be accessed following a full <strong>Risk</strong> Assessment addressing fragile material and edge<br />

protection<br />

L. Existing scaffolding shall not be climbed unless evidence of the last 7 day inspection has been<br />

witnessed and it is visually inspected before use<br />

M. Any requirement for inspection/access that involves working at height must be as per the requirements<br />

of the Management of Work at Height SM-WI-49.<br />
