Generali Group’s production results for<br />

2010: premiums up to over € 73 billion (+3.8%)<br />

On Wednesday 23rd February, the Generali Group announced its production results<br />

for financial year 2010. The Group closed 2010 with gross written premiums up to € 73,188 million,<br />

an increase of 3.8% (€ 70,530 million in 2009; +2.8% on a like-for-like basis).<br />

The Group confirmed its strong growth in the Life business (+4.5%) with premiums in excess of € 51<br />

billion. The improvement in Life premiums arose specifically from excellent growth in Italy, Germany,<br />

East Europe and China. In Asia, strong growth continued in China (+44.7%, +36.6% on a like-for-life<br />

basis), confirming the Group’s position as one of the top foreign Life insurers. ).<br />

Premiums in the Non-Life segment also made a return to healthy growth (+2.1%), to over € 22 billion,<br />

with Italy and France reporting excellent performance.<br />

The premium results confirm the validity of the Group strategy and business model based on<br />

significant geographical diversification and diversified proprietary sales channels. Group production<br />

was also of notable quality, mirrored in the high level of Life net inflows (premium income less outflows<br />

for maturities and surrenders) at € 16.1 billion and in the new production in terms of APE (Annual<br />

Premium Equivalent), which rose to more than € 5.3 billion (+2.8%).<br />

Premiums up to over € 73 billion (+3.8%). Strong growth continues in Life (+4.5%), return<br />

to healthy progress in Non-Life (+2.1%).<br />

LIFE SEGMENT<br />

• Life result driven by strong performance in Italy (+6.8%), Germany (+12.5%) and East<br />

Europe (+5.6%). Growth in China (+44.7%).<br />

• High quality for Life premiums with APE at € 5.3 billion (+2.8%).<br />

NON-LIFE SEGMENT<br />

• Healthy growth in Non-Life (+2.1%) thanks to results in Italy and France.<br />

Week” a Guinness Record to<br />

raise the awareness of the<br />

importance of insurance<br />

MUMBAI Future Generali launched a new marketing campaign “Future Generali Insurance<br />

Week”(29th January – 6th February) a generic Insurance campaign across all FG branches & Big<br />

Bazaars across the country in the months of January & February with the objective of increasing<br />

Insurance penetration in the country. They also used the Future Group retail formats to actively<br />

engage with customers & make them aware of the need for Insurance.<br />

This marketing campaign was created by Ogilvy India. “Future Generali Insurance Week” was<br />

not a mere marketing campaign, but a movement aimed at breaking the barriers of inertia and<br />

procrastination towards Insurance, which is the general attitude across the country. Apart from high<br />

decibel advertising - TV-3 films-, hoardings, radio, website, social network - they had a massive on<br />

ground activation, where they ran a signature campaign in 103 BigBazaar outlets & 192 FG branches,<br />

encouraging people to sign a white balloon ( which was also shown in our TV commercials ), as<br />

symbol of participating & supporting FGIW campaign, along with a pledge card, saying ‘I pledge<br />

to revaluate my Insurance needs during the Insurance Week’ They also ran a similar signature<br />

campaign on online on the website & FG Facebook page, which was well received and got significant<br />

participation.<br />

As a result, they got over 1 million people to sign the balloons and over half million people to sign the<br />

pledge cards. These balloons were then collected at a single location in Mumbai on the final event<br />

day and used to create the long balloon chain in the form of roof ( representing Cover, which is the<br />

primary benefit of Insurance ). This balloon chain was then certified as the longest balloon chain in the<br />

world, but Guinness World Record authorities, London and awarded a certificate for creating a new<br />

world record.<br />

BEIJING Generali China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (GCL) for the second time received the prestigious<br />

award “The Best Annual Joint-venture Insurer 2010” at the “2010 Golden Cicada Award Ceremony”<br />

organized by China Times in Beijing. At the same time, GCL Free Life Annuity Insurance (participating)<br />

sold through GCL Agency Channel, was awarded “The Financing Endowment Insurance 2010<br />

Closest to the People”.<br />

Mr. Renzo Isler, General Manager of GCL, stated “The Best Joint-venture Insurer award was a<br />

recognition of the GCL’s position among foreign and joint-venture insurers in China. Backed by<br />

Generali’s 180 years of insurance experiences and the strength of CNPC and Generali, GCL aims to<br />

make itself a first-class insurer in China and create value for clients, shareholders, agents, employees<br />

and society”.<br />

GCL was the only joint-venture insurer which won two awards at the same time at this ceremony.<br />

BANGKOK Generali Thailand decided to run again the successful transit advertising campaign with<br />

a brand new design for Bangkok’s famous Sky Train. The Sky Train runs across the heart of metro<br />

Bangkok targeting a significant number of customers and potential customers who utilize public<br />

transportation. This new campaign is part of a broader integrated marketing campaign which intends<br />

support to Green Power!<br />

Hong Kong, SAR, China. On January 29th for the 9th consecutive year Hong Kong Branch’s<br />

management and staff participated at Hong Kong’s green walkathon: the 2011 Green Power Hike.<br />

This annual charitable walkathon reached this year its 18th Edition and is the largest race in Hong<br />

Kong, along the 50-km Hong Kong Trail. Also this year’s race saw the participation of over 3000<br />

people and over 100 corporations and organizations. More than 4,000,000 HKD were raised. In<br />

the past 18 years over 40 thousand people ran for a greener future raising over 44 million HKD. The<br />

raised funds are used to implement many environmental, educational and conservation programs.<br />

With the aim to teach children how to protect environment so to build a greener future, all donations<br />

will be used to fund local green education in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.<br />

The “Generali Teams" participated to the HKFI Cup Championship with outstanding results achieving<br />

the 1st Runner-Up for both the 10KM race and the 25KM race . The Green Power Hike is an<br />

important engagement for Hong Kong Branch. All the participants and their families celebrated<br />

together the Generali Teams’ achievements at the traditonal BBQ in Big Way Bay.<br />

Hong Kong, SAR, China. Generali Group for the 8th year was associate sponsor and the official<br />

insurance provider of the traditional tennis tournament organized by Hong Kong Tennis Patron<br />

Association.<br />

The Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2011 took place from the 5th to the 8th of January 2011 featuring<br />

the ‘World's Top Ten’ plus five Grand Slam Champions. The Tennis Patron Association confirmed last<br />

year successful format putting together Stars and Heroes of the world tennis. The tournament, in fact,<br />

featured four teams from the regions of Europe, Russia, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Each team<br />

consisted of two female stars players who competed in singles and mixed doubles joining forces with<br />

4 of the most popular and talented male global star players. A unique combination of young talents<br />

stars at the top of their career and heroes of tennis were together in one tournament.<br />

The captain of the Russian team Vera Zvonareva , won the tournament, sweeping team Europe’s<br />

Danish representative and world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki with a 6-1, 6-0 straight sets.<br />
