Active <strong>Farm</strong>ers -­‐ Entering Grades 5-­‐8, $675 per three-­‐week session, 8:45am -­‐ 3:30pm<br />

<strong>Community</strong> <strong>Farm</strong> Biz -­‐ Learn to be an Entrepreneur, create and implement your own business plan, and help families in <br />

need. Students will be introduced to small business planning, experience the farmers market at Billings Forge <strong>Community</strong> <br />

Works in Hartford, and learn how non-­‐proCit organizations can work together to create vibrant and healthy communities. <br />

CFS Explorers -­‐ Explore farm habitats and search for endangered species, spend a night camping along the <strong>Farm</strong>ington River, <br />

and learn organic gardening techniques. Students will explore new cooking techniques as they prepare food picked fresh <br />

from the gardens. On Thursday, August 8th, students will camp in the CFS Cields along the <strong>Farm</strong>ington River and experience <br />

the beautiful sights and sounds <strong>of</strong> a Connecticut summer night.<br />

Montessori <strong>Farm</strong> Experience -­‐ Ages 10-­‐13, $675 per three-­‐week session, 8:45am -­‐ 3:30pm<br />

In this Erdkinder (Montessori) program, students learn on the farm; “schooling” consists <strong>of</strong> math, science, literature, and <br />

social studies courses, taught within the context <strong>of</strong> the farm. Dr. Maria Montessori called it the Pedagogy <strong>of</strong> Place, as students <br />

solve challenges associated with caring for animals, tending crops, and meeting the community service goals <strong>of</strong> the farm.<br />

Advanced <strong>Farm</strong>ers -­‐ Grades 9-­‐10, $675 per three-­‐week session, 8:45am -­‐ 3:30pm<br />

Groundbreaking Techniques for a Better World -­‐ Create delicious recipes, tend crops in the organic garden, explore farm <br />

habitats and search for endangered species. Students learn about their unique place in the environment, responsible <br />

stewardship <strong>of</strong> nature, and sustainable organic farming principles. A farm camp-­‐out is planned for Thursday, August 8th.<br />
