FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDY 2011/12<br />

OXFORD OPPORTUNITY BURSARY<br />

The <strong>Oxford</strong> Opportunity Bursary (OOB) was established in 2006 to assist UK students from lower income<br />

households with the cost <strong>of</strong> undergraduate study at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oxford</strong>. The bursaries are nonrepayable<br />

and you do not need to make a separate application, but must be <strong>financial</strong>ly assessed in your<br />

application for UK government funding. The <strong>University</strong> uses the household income figure derived from this<br />

<strong>financial</strong> assessment in order to calculate any bursary entitlement. When completing your application for<br />

maintenance <strong>support</strong> please ensure that you and your sponsors have given the <strong>University</strong> permission to<br />

see your <strong>financial</strong> assessment information. If we do not have access to this information, we will be unable<br />

to assess you for a bursary. Please visit www.oxfordopportunity.com for more detailed information about the<br />

bursary scheme and related awards. The bursary bandings for 2011 entrants based on their assessed<br />

household income are:<br />

SCHOLARSHIPS<br />

A small number <strong>of</strong> scholarships are available each year for new undergraduate students. To apply for these<br />

scholarships you will need to complete a separate application form, which will be available in January 2011.<br />

Students from Norfolk and Suffolk<br />

Students from developing countries<br />

US AND CANADIAN LOANS<br />

Students from the US are able to apply for federal student loans to help with living costs and details can be<br />

found at www.ox.ac.uk/feesandfunding/prospectiveugrad/other/usloans. Students from Canada may be able to access<br />

loans for their studies and further information is available at www.canlearn.ca.<br />

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT<br />

Students from the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle <strong>of</strong> Man with a disability are eligible for the governmentfunded<br />

Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). For full details about DSA, including how to apply for funding,<br />

Full-time UK undergraduates with dependent children may be eligible for <strong>financial</strong> assistance from the<br />

government through a Childcare Grant, Parents' Learning Allowance, Child Tax Credits and Child Benefit.<br />
