the country. Our head office in Lagos is our communications
Established industry contacts
Backed by nearly three decades of operations in Nigeria, we
have built extensive local expertise as well as excellent relations
with local authorities and private sectors of the shipping,
culture or customs – and allow us to combine international
experience with local expertise to deliver outstanding services.
State-of-the-art communications
To counter the telecommunications challenges in Nigeria, GAC
has developed a sophisticated communications system which
includes V-sat email, telex, Immarsat and a private VHF/SSB
system with backup networks.
Additionally, a private satellite (V-sat) high speed data and
phone system ensures reliable and efficient communications
at all times. The system can be expanded and Principals can
lease bandwidth for both internet and phone. GAC Nigeria also
provides IT support for clients.
To ensure reliable transportation and power supply, we run our
own workshop in Lagos under the supervision of a Technical
Manager. Our technicians can assist wherever their expertise
is required.
Source of up-to-date information
We provide current and precise information to meet the needs
of all vessel operators in their planning and fixture stages.
These include port conditions, port costs, navigation rules, antipollution
and security regulations. Besides reporting vessel lineup
and berthing prospects to our Principals, we also provide
weekly port situation reports upon request.
Nigeria specialises in marine logistics, where clearance is done
using customs bonds. In addition, our expertise also extends
to freight clearance at all Nigerian ports. Using GAC’s own
or GAC approved fleet of trucks, we operate door-to-door
delivery with weekly scheduled departures to eastern Nigeria.
Marine logistics
GAC Marine Logistics (GML) is a key IT-based initiative providing
door-to-deck delivery of ship spares and marine parts to meet
the needs of ship owners and related companies for time and
cost efficiency.
This brings together the combined infrastructure and expertise
of GAC in the fields of logistics, shipping agency and offshore
marine support. We offer a wide range of delivery options from
Marine Services
Manning Services
GAC Marine provides expertise and associated services to the
offshore and shipping industries. Located in the Port of Lagos,
GAC Marine has mooring masters and supply boats under an
experienced General Manager, all based in Apapa, Lagos.
All transfer services operations take place OPL (Off Port Limits)
Lagos or anywhere along the West African coast within
international waters. Berthing operations are carried out at
anchor or underway, with the transfer operation usually done
at anchor.
GAC Marine also acts as Terminal representatives, is oil major
approved for the inspection of boats and barges, and offers
both expatriate and local Mooring Masters for FPSO tandem
export. Supply vessels, anchor handling tugs and other support
vessels can be provided for the offshore industry.
Having well-trained crew is of paramount importance to
any vessel and the demand for qualified seafarers as well as
specialists in the maritime industry has been growing. To meet
the increasing needs, particularly from the oil & gas sector, GAC
Nigeria established GAC Manning Services (Nigeria) Ltd (GMS)
in 1997.
GMS is a maritime manning agency which serves as a
professional link between Nigerian seafarers and ship owners/
managers operating in Nigeria. Today, GMS is the largest
Manning Agency in the country, offering professionally trained
Nigerian personnel to the industry. Based in Port Harcourt, GMS
also has a branch office in Warri.
Comprehensive range of personnel services
In Nigeria, there are employment clauses in contracts, stipulating
the engagement of Nigerian seafarers. Such requirements
naturally lead to an increased demand for Nigerians on board
vessels as well as FSO/FPSO installations. Backed by nearly a
decade of experience, GMS provides a complete range of
personnel-related services to the maritime industry.
In addition, GMS works closely with its Principals to ensure
that special requirements are met. These include STCW95
convention, flag state requirements, and national as well as
company specific requirements.
Excellent industry relationships
Given our established presence in the country, GMS has built
good relations with key players in the industry including JOMALIC
(Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council), MWUN (Maritime
Workers Union Nigeria) and NMA (Nigerian Maritime Authority).
This enables us to keep abreast of industry developments and
helps to ensure that we are always compliant with the latest
requirements and regulations.
At local level, GMS has vast experience in assisting with
community issues. The company also cooperates closely with
training institutions in Nigeria as well as overseas to ensure that
all training requirements are met.
Services include
