Also known as the Canadian Masters and the Canadian Open, the Rogers Cup<br />

is an annual tennis competition played on hard courts. Established as a men’s<br />

competition in 1881, followed by the introduction of the women’s tournament<br />

in 1892, the Canadian Open is one of the oldest running tennis competitions in<br />

the world, with only Wimbledon and the US Open more established. Held on the<br />

same week in August, the men’s competition is held in Toronto and the women’s<br />

in Montreal on even-number years, and vice versa for odd-numbered years.<br />

Held annually in September on the first Thursday following Canada’s Labor<br />

Day holiday, the Toronto International Film Festival runs for 11 days, attracting<br />

around 250,000 people. Established in 1976 as the ‘Festival of Festivals’,<br />

A 45-year-old Toronto tradition, the Cavalcade of Lights is a beautiful event<br />

marking the start of the holiday season. With over 300,000 glistening LED lights<br />

and a giant Christmas tree bringing festive cheer to Nathan Phillips Square, the<br />
