of Solar Energy in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
and Reading Universities from 1969 to
1994. Presently he is professor at the
University of Hertfordshire. Founding
member of the Arab Science and
Technology Foundation (ASTF); Fellow of
the Institute of Energy; Fellow of the
Institution of Electrical Engineers; and
Chartered Engineer. He has published
more than 200 papers and contributed to
and edited more than 30 books.
He is editor and editor in chief of
several international journals including
the one which he founded in 1983 Solar
and Wind Technology which in 1990
became Renewable Energy – an
International Journal published by
Elsevier Science Ltd.

The seminar will review the role of
renewable energy systems in meeting
world energy demand in electricity and
focus on up-to-date technologies in manufacturing
buildings, transport and water
resources and management. Special
attention is given to the environment
and energy saving. It will open the
opportunity for participants to learn and
co-operate with various industries and to
assess the progress of renewable energy
development. Climate change and the
clean development mechanism CDM
as well as other strategies will be
reviewed.

Participants
The seminar is important for policy
makers, industrialists, government
agencies, decision makers, researchers,
managers, and manufacturers.
Numbers
There are places for 30 participants and
these will be allocated on a first-come
first-serve basis.
Fees
Fully residential fee: £1100
The fee includes
• the cost of 7 nights accommodation in single
rooms with private bathroom or shower
• all meals.
• full academic programme, including industrial
and social programme (including
opening dinner)
• welcome and farewell packs (including
programme, speakers’ notes, local information,
etc)
• seminar certificate and group photograph
• experienced seminar manager in daily
attendance.
This is a residential seminar. We are
unable to accept non-resident participants
and regret that requests for reductions or
refunds cannot be accepted.
Accommodation before and
after the Seminar
Any participant who wishes to stay for
extra days must arrange his or her
stay directly with the Manager of the
Hotel.
Joining instructions
Participants will be sent joining instructions,
including directions for reaching the
seminar hotel, the postal address and telephone
number of the hotel and the latest
time of arrival.
Seminar location
The seminar will be held in Brighton City.
Brighton is a south-coast city noted for its
theatres, music, museums, cinemas and
art galleries, as well as a wide variety of
shops. Nearby there are places of outstanding
historical and geographical
interest, including Arundel Castle,
Alfriston, Lewes, Eastbourne and Beachy
Head. Brighton is easily reached from
central London (1 hour by train), and
from Gatwick airport (30 minutes) and
London Heathrow airport (1 hour).
The Hotel is on the sea front 10
minutes from the railway station.
Seminar dates
The seminar will commence with an
opening dinner on the evening of
Saturday 15 October, and will close after
breakfast on Saturday 21 October, 2005.
International travel
Participants should make their own travel
arrangements to and from the seminar
centre. They are strongly advised to make
return reservations before leaving their
own country as it may be difficult to
make them after arrival.
Insurance
Seminar participants are strongly advised
to make arrangements for travel and
health insurance before their departure.
Cancellation of the Seminar
If obliged to cancel the seminar, the World
Renewable Energy Network reserves the
right to do so without indemnity, subject
to the return of any registration or enrolment
fees already paid.
