Institution of Electrical Engineers; and<br />

Chartered Engineer. He has published<br />

more than 200 papers and contributed to<br />

and edited more than 30 books.<br />

He is editor and editor in chief of<br />

several international journals including<br />

the one which he founded in 1983 Solar<br />

and Wind Technology which in 1990<br />

became <strong>Renewable</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> – an<br />

<strong>International</strong> Journal published by<br />

Elsevier Science Ltd.<br />

The seminar will review the role of<br />

renewable energy systems in meeting<br />

world energy demand in electricity and<br />

focus on up-to-date technologies in manufacturing<br />

buildings, transport and water<br />

resources and management. Special<br />

attention is given to the environment<br />

and energy saving. It will open the<br />

opportunity for participants to learn and<br />

co-operate with various industries and to<br />

assess the progress of renewable energy<br />

development. Climate change and the<br />

clean development mechanism CDM<br />

as well as other strategies will be<br />

reviewed.<br />

The seminar is important for policy<br />

makers, industrialists, government<br />

agencies, decision makers, researchers,<br />

managers, and manufacturers.<br />

There are places for 30 participants and<br />

these will be allocated on a first-come<br />

first-serve basis.<br />

Fully residential fee: £1100<br />

• the cost of 7 nights accommodation in single<br />

rooms with private bathroom or shower<br />

• all meals.<br />

• full academic programme, including industrial<br />

and social programme (including<br />

This is a residential seminar. We are<br />

unable to accept non-resident participants<br />

and regret that requests for reductions or<br />

refunds cannot be accepted.<br />

Accommodation before and<br />

after the Seminar<br />

Any participant who wishes to stay for<br />

extra days must arrange his or her<br />

stay directly with the Manager of the<br />

Hotel.<br />

Joining instructions<br />

Participants will be sent joining instructions,<br />

including directions for reaching the<br />

seminar hotel, the postal address and telephone<br />

number of the hotel and the latest<br />

time of arrival.<br />

Seminar location<br />

The seminar will be held in Brighton City.<br />

Brighton is a south-coast city noted for its<br />

theatres, music, museums, cinemas and<br />

art galleries, as well as a wide variety of<br />

shops. Nearby there are places of outstanding<br />

historical and geographical<br />

interest, including Arundel Castle,<br />

Alfriston, Lewes, Eastbourne and Beachy<br />

Head. Brighton is easily reached from<br />

central London (1 hour by train), and<br />

from Gatwick airport (30 minutes) and<br />

London Heathrow airport (1 hour).<br />

The Hotel is on the sea front 10<br />

minutes from the railway station.<br />

Seminar dates<br />

The seminar will commence with an<br />

opening dinner on the evening of<br />

Saturday 15 October, and will close after<br />

breakfast on Saturday 21 October, 2005.<br />

<strong>International</strong> travel<br />

Participants should make their own travel<br />

arrangements to and from the seminar<br />

centre. They are strongly advised to make<br />

return reservations before leaving their<br />

own country as it may be difficult to<br />

make them after arrival.<br />

Insurance<br />

Seminar participants are strongly advised<br />

to make arrangements for travel and<br />

health insurance before their departure.<br />

Cancellation of the Seminar<br />

If obliged to cancel the seminar, the <strong>World</strong><br />

<strong>Renewable</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> <strong>Network</strong> reserves the<br />

right to do so without indemnity, subject<br />

to the return of any registration or enrolment<br />

fees already paid.
