GGI at All-European Championship in Italy 

As the only foreign bull, the Jocko Besneson 

Jardin was presented by an outstanding 

daughter group at the All-European 

Championship in Cremona, Italy, at the 

booth of GGI. 

A total of five second crop daughters made 

the trip via the Alps in order to represent 

the German flag. All of the Jardin-daughters 

left an excellent mark upon the more 

than 4,000 international visitors. They 

showed themselves as very homogeneous

daughter group with good strength and 

nice harmony. The audience especially 

praised the good quality of feet&legs and 

udders of the daughters presented. 

Jardin is also an outstanding protein sire 

and he can be recommended for the use on 

heifers. Lots of the positive comments from 

Germany and abroad are conducive to the

great popularity worldwide which this exceptional 

sire still enjoys. 

The worldwide known conformation sire 

Rustler dominated the Red Holstein Championship. 

His daughters showed an unbelievable 

strength in the show ring and with that 

Rustler was able to leave a mark in three 

out of four classes. 

The Talent-daughter Lotani – out of a 

Rustler-dam – won the first class, the 1c 

prize became the Italian Rustler-daughter 

Baruf Rastler Megan. 

The later overall winner Pepita wins class 

No.2 and the 1c prize goes to the Rustlerdaughter 

Gina. 

A Rustler-daughter won the 1a prize in 

class No.3, too. Another Rustler-daughter 

was ranked No.6. 

When choosing the overall Champion, it

got exciting between the Rustler-daughter 

Pepita and the Luxembourgian Talentdaughter 

Mylene who won the 4 th and oldest 

class. Judge John Gribbon chose the 

Grand Champion: Rustler-daughter Pepita 

lightly coloured Pepita at the end of the day 

since she impressed by her nice harmony, 

lots of dairy character and frame. Her ud- 

Jardin-daughters were presented in the ring 

der, which showed good veining and was 

attached extremely long and firm in the 

fore, should be mentioned. 

Many interested farmers visited GGI in Cremona

German Holsteins news 

EuroTier 2010: GGI with top bulls on stage 

Over 144,000 visitors from more than 80 

countries attended the world’s largest trade 

exhibition for animal husbandry and management 

in Hanover from November 16 th 

to 19 th 2010. 

The GGI stand was very popular and the 

progeny groups of its member organizations 

were presented at the “TopTierTreff“ in 

hall 27. Eight Holstein, two Red Holstein 

groups as well as one Angler group, each 

of three animals, were shown daily. The 

stage presentation offered detailed infor- 

mation on the progeny groups and the 

milestones of German cattle breeding to the 

visitors. 

You will find below a comprehensive introduction 

to the eleven progeny groups: 

The framy Brigade-daughters are wellbalanced 

and impress with strength in the 

fore hand and their outstanding sloped 

rumps. The good feet & legs are characterized 

by excellent bone quality. The udders, 

which show good texture, are firmly attached 

and the wide rear udders are car- 

ried by a strong suspensory ligament. 

Brigade breeds free stall barn cows which 

are strong in type. His great strength is outstanding 

transmission for components with 

good milk yield. 

The Van Gogh-daughters are tall, promising 

heifers equipped with long bodies and 

lots of development potential. Their feet & 

legs are faultless and the udders are attached 

highly and firmly, are well shaped 

and show great texture.

anced conformation and he is positive for 

all fitness traits with adequate production. 

The cows are medium-sized, balanced and 

trouble-free. They show lots of type and 

open rib. They move freely on their parallel 

set feet & legs and have high foot angles as 

well as clean joints. The udders show good 

texture and are well-balanced, firmly attached 

and excel with high and wide rear 

attachments.

Komtur-sons. Keel breeds medium-sized 

cows with enough depth and strength. 

Highlight of his transmission are feet & 

legs. They show optimal leg angle and set 

and the very good feet and clear joints impress. 

Besides excellent locomotion, the 

good udders are an eye-catcher. Rear udder 

height, suspensory ligament and the 

entire udder attachment leave nothing to be 

desired. 

The daughters of Radon impressed with 

balanced bodies and perfect feet & legs. 

They are young looking with great locomotion 

and healthy, well-shaped udders. The 

daughters evolve into strong cows. Radon’s 

hallmarks are daughter fertility, longevity 

and udder health. He combines high milk 

yield potential 

with positive 

protein percentages.

The daughters of Stylist are characterized 

by good dairy character with adequate

Very good locomotion is guaranteed 

by the feet & legs which show optimal angle 

and outstanding leg set, as well as 

tight, closed feet. Udders are impressive 

with very high and wide rear attachments 

and optimal teat placement. 

Jardin daughters are framy cows with average 

strength and open rib. The cows 

show good length and lots of development 

potential. The rumps vary regarding position, 

but have good width. The very good 

feet & legs leave nothing to be desired regarding 

set, angle and bone quality. The 

feet impress too. In particular, Jardin’s udder 

transmission is a highlight. His daughters 

excel with highly and widely attached 

rear udders as well as a strong suspensory 

ligament with optimal teat placement. 

Angler bull Hexer is an all-rounder with a 

deep, solid pedigree. The uniform Hexerdaughters 

impress with their size and the 

good combination of dairy type and excellent 

body traits. The correct top lines and 

wide, well-sloped rumps impress. The solid 

feet & legs are slightly angled and have 

good quality feet. Hexer transmits wide 

and high rear udders with good attachment 

and optimal teat placement. �

German winter shows 

Four big shows have already been held 

this winter. We would like to give you a 

short report on them. 

RBB 

First was last year’s show of RBB. Jelbas, an 

early Jefferson (MS: Eminenz), was represented 

by a group of medium-sized daughters 

with correctly sloped rumps and quality, 

high udders. A group of dairy cows with 

good front end, strength and excellent 

rumps as well as high and wide rear udders 

was shown from Suarez (Shottle x 

Jocko Besne x Storm) who already got a 

daughter proven breeding value in August. 

The clear winner of all progeny groups, 

The Malvoy-daughters at the RUW show in Hamm presented 

themselves as well-developed and with strong bodies. 

Suadar, was in this group. This great young 

cow probably owes some of her elegance 

and dairyness to her dam’s sire, Laudan. 

The audience was curious about the progeny 

group of Guarini (Goldwin x O-Man x 

Jester) who is already marketed as a genomically 

tested bull. The extremely uniform 

group of dark young cows with outstanding 

udders was very appealing. This 

might be a confirmation of his very good 

genomic breeding value. Moreover, the 

crowd was able to see a calf group of Borsati 

in the barn for the progeny. The five 

young cattle of currently the best German 

Bolton-son at No.5 in the German genomic 

top list, attracted lots of interest. 

RSA 

A Christmassy atmosphere in the festively 

decorated cattle hall and a big audience 

were the background for the anniversary 

show of the RSA. 

Like in the barns, the progeny of the second 

crop sire Cecon impressed with lots of elegance 

and outstanding udder quality in the 

ring. The next class included the progeny 

group of the best German Goldwin-son, 


and top-class conformation sire, Van 

Gogh. The outstanding Van Gogh-daughter 

Valerie showed herself to be the true 

queen of the show ring and left nothing to 

be desired. Unfortunately, the exceptionalsire 

Van Gogh has recently passed away 

and there is very little semen stock left. 

RUW 

Right at the start of the New Year, the HighlightSALE 

of RUW took place. 

A very attractive group of 7 daughters of 

Malvoy was shown. These very well-developed 

animals were strong in the body and 

equipped with an open rib. The mostly correctly 

sloped rumps were exactly of the desired 

width. The good feet & 

legs were particularly impressive 

with their parallel set. 

The firmly and widely attached 

udders were a highlight with 

the rear udders being especially 

eye-catching. They show 

good texture and are carried 

by a strong suspensory ligament. 

Teats are placed perfectly 

and are of clearly above average 

length. 

Omatido (Oman x Aaron x 

Aero Wade) was 

represented by 

five very good 

heifers from the 

test period. As the animals 

were quite far in their lactation, 

they showed slight variations 

for body substance and 

udder size. The animals show 

lots of capacity and especially 

excel with depth and strength 

in the front end and, additionally, 

they have a nice, open 

rib structure. The slightly sloped 

rumps were optimal regarding 

their width. The parallel set feet & legs impressed 

and enabled good locomotion. The 

udders showed good texture and they were 

firmly attached both in the fore and in the 

rear. The suspensory ligament as well as 

the very good teat placement leave nothing 

to be desired. 

Daughters of Folleto were shown as a very 

uniform group. The daughters of this Fordson, 

who is strong for conformation, have 

sufficient strength with lots of length in the 

body and enough capacity. Rumps can be 

described as “optimal“ and they convince 

with their width and position. The Folletodaughters 

move perfectly on their parallel 

set feet & legs and the firmly attached ud- 

ers are also a highlight. 

WEU 

At this year’s Konvent in Oldenburg, 8 juvenile 

looking second crop daughters from 

our protein specialist Stylist were shown. 

The heifers, which are of average dairy 

type, show enough frame with good body 

proportions. The good position of the 

rumps needs to be mentioned. As for feet & 

legs, which were impressive for set and angle, 

these young cows were able to move 

correctly on their excellent feet. The group 

reflected the good udder transmission of 

the sire. The well-attached udders were 

carried by a strong suspensory ligament 

and showed good teat placement. The udder 

floor is clearly above the hocks with average 

rear udder height. In total, 6 daughters 

from the test period of the outcross bull 

Truman, who is strong for type, were presented 

in the show ring. The elegant cows, 

in their 3 rd lactation, were framy and 

equipped with lots of body which is very 

reminiscent of the dam’s sire Lee, regarding 

their strength. The rumps, which vary in position, 

were impressive for their good 

width. The Truman-daughters moved very 

well on their high quality feet & legs. The 

3 rd lactation daughters of Truman shown in Oldenburg 

udders which are sometimes somewhat 

shorter in the fore, are firmly attached and 

carried by a strong suspensory ligament so 

although teat placement can sometimes 

vary, teat length is very correct. 

The interesting newcomer Sorento was represented 

by 6 daughters from the test period 

which were strong in body. The heifers 

are of average dairy type and showed 

good strength and enough frame. They 

moved on good, parallel set and strong 

feet&legs with good feet. The group had 

great udders, attached medium-high in the 

rear with good suspensory ligaments which 

reflect the high will to milk of the Sorentodaughters.

Toscano is currently the highest conformation sire in Germany as Van Gogh 

has passed away. His debut was already good in August and he has now 

made a big leap to RZE 144 with additional daughters. Like the bull himself, 

the daughters show fantastic type with lots of size, depth and strength. The 

rumps also impress for width and position. feet & legs are faultless with extremely 

good feet and outstanding locomotion. The udders are very high and 

firm in the rear. His elegant daughters’ uniformity is praised over and over 

again. Toscano descends from a Canadian cow family which is not yet well 

known. His dam is one of the best Champion-daughters from the test period. 

Toscano is more than a pure conformation sire with RZM 109 and +813kg 

milk. The positive fat transmission of +0.16% is a much respected additional 

plus. Despite the outstanding capacity and strength of his daughters, Toscano 

can be recommended for use on heifers and sexed semen will be available 

in the future. 

Gandolf 144494 TLTV 

(Goldwin x Manat x Rudolph x Starbuck)

Gandolf is No.3 of all the Goldwin-sons and the most balanced of them. His 

production transmission, for the son of the Canadian conformation specialist, 

is exceptionally high with +1,152kg milk and this even with a good fat 

and protein ratio (RZM 120, 96 daughters). The linear does not show any 

weaknesses. The well-developed Gandolf-daughters are very balanced, of 

average capacity, but juvenile and promising. The clean feet & legs show a 

parallel set and the feet are of a quality which is clearly above average. The 

faultless udder transmission of Gandolf is also outstanding with very high rear 

udders as well as long and firm fore udders. For functional traits, Gandolf 

does not show any weaknesses either. The udder health is clearly above average 

(RZS 112) and also the other fitness traits tend to be good. So Gandolf 

is an excellent all-rounder for widespread use. 

aAa: 651243 

Leko is now the highest of 332 daughter proven Laudan-sons worldwide, 

with RZG 141. He descends from the currently very successful Italian cow 

Jockobenge who is attracting interest across Europe with several highly positive 

sons. Leko now has 110 daughters, which give him a breeding value 

for production of RZM 124 and because of that he is one of the best Laudansons 

in this area, too. Leko was even able to clearly improve for conformation 

to RZE 128, compared to his debut in August. The medium-sized Lekodaughters 

show lots of strength and depth. The udders are attached high and 

firm in spite of the high production of +1,505kg milk. The absolute highlight 

in the linear are feet & legs. They are perfectly angled and end in high hoofs 

with clean bones. Locomotion is excellent. With a very good udder health 

(121) the high predicted longevity, genomically too, (RZN 127) is not surprising. 

Leko is not only an international sire of sons, but also a sire who can 

be used widely as he is easy calving and has good figures for all main traits.

New breeding values December 2010 

For the first time, the results of the winter 

breeding value evaluation are published in 

December as a result of the new Interbull 

schedule. There are some remarkable 

changes in the rankings. As sires of sons, 

Goldwin and Shottle are responsible for the 

most interesting newcomers. Among the Red 

Holsteins, the first Colby-Red-sons look interesting. 

Holstein 

Omega (Lynbrook Jancen ET; O-Man x Manat) 

is leader of the list with an increase of 9 

RZG points. This enormous gain is based on 

6 more points for production (RZM 136) and 

better longevity (131, +14). For conforma- 

Omega-daughter Otella, 2 nd La 

tion, he is constant and a typical O-Man-son 

with good feet&legs. He is followed by Snowman. 

Mascol is at No.3 and he was even 

able to increase with now more than 20,000 

daughters. The second crop daughters are 

now bringing much direct longevity information 

(RZN 132, +5). ALH Duke is an other O- 

Man-son in the Top-5. Gibor, who has the 

same RZG with 141 and reliability of 99%, is 

now at No.5 with 16,000 daughters. Leko, at 

No.6, is able to retain his position as the highest 

Laudan-son and increases by 4 points for 

RZE and RZS. Radon at No.7 is also a clear 

winner of this run with +7 RZG points. His 

daughters are now at the beginning of their 

3 rd lactation and bring higher production figures 

(RZM 129, +5) and improved longevity 

(RZN 115, +4) resulting in an increase of 13 

places. Another O-Man-son, Omajo, enters 

the Top-10 with his RZM 134 (+2,053 kg 

milk) at No.8. Wizzard is unchanged at 

No.9. The highest Shottle-son is Scaloni at 

No.10 for production (RZM 131, +5), conformation 

(RZE 129, +11) and udder health 

(RZS 116, +4) he increased. 

New bulls 

A pleasing development can be seen in the already 

heavily used Gandolf (Goldwin x Tugolo) 

with RZE 128 (+6) as well as Van Gogh 

(Goldwin x Rudolph) who is top leader for 

overall conformation with an RZE 149. Unfortunately, 

this exceptional sire passed away 

recently and there is only very limited semen 

in stock. Scalli (No.20) is a Shottle-son out of 

Braedale Anneka, an Allen-sister of Goldwin. 

He transmits positive components (RZM 120) 

as well as good conformation (RZE 121). Udder 

health is outstanding with RZS 131. 

Gateway (s. Goldwin) is an all-rounder out 

of a daughter from Monluel (s. Fatal). He 

combines RZM 125 (protein +0.10%) with 

RZE 122 and RZS 110. Dunar at No.22 is 

one of the first Duplex-sons worldwide. 

Dunar, suitable for use on heifers, transmits 

lots of size and capacity with very good 

feet&legs (RZE 131). For production, he will 

not go unnoticed with RZM 122 (+0.16% protein). 

Although with only low reliability, he still 

has good values for daughter fertility (RZR 

110) and longevity (RZN 120). Through 

Snooker RC (No.34), Shottle blood is also 

available for Red Holstein breeding. His dam 

is a red Stadel-daughter from Andries who is 

the full sister to the solid Red Holstein sire 

Starfire. The first Mascol-sons are in the top 

list: Mendez (No.39) and Maputo (No.165). 

Brigade (No.40) is also very interesting. This 

Best-son descends via Durham and Prelude 

from the Bell Tammy-family. Brigade is a sire 

for conformation (RZE 136) and components 

(+0.47% fat, +0.14% protein; RZM 122). His 

quality was also demonstrated by his first 

progeny group shown at the “EuroTier 2010” 

exhibition in Hanover. Gerke, Alex, Goldoran, 

Goldriver, Gemello and Gallier are 

among the other Goldwin-sons that should be 

mentioned. Gerke (RZM 122, RZE 124; 

Leko-daughter Lekola 

No.61) is out of the full sister of Jardin. The 

well-known Snow-N Denises Dellia is the basis 

of the success of Goldoran (RZM 107, RZE 

129; No.129). Sieben (RZM 112, RZE 125; 

No.68) is out of an Aaron-sister of Emil II from 

the Grietje-family. Sabari (RZM 112, RZE 

136; No.105) is the Shottle-brother of Girod 

ALL (No.67) and Tequila RF (RZE 125) out of 

Rubens Carla EX 94. The family of Svensson 

(RZM 121, RZE 122; No.119) has already 

produced Tiramisu (No.112, +2,038 kg 

milk). Shulan (RZM 125, RZE 124; No.121) 

Tiramisu-daughter Tina 

comes from the combination Shottle x Jocko 

Besne, too. NOG Setos (RZM 117, RZE 123; 

No.170) descends via Fatal from Leadman 

Illinda and so from the same family as Leif. 

Sottrum (RZM 113, RZE 131; No. 176) and 

NOG Molo (RZM 131, RZE 114; No.130) 

come from the same family. NOG Molo is a 

Modest-son out of the Steven-sister of the dam 

of Sottrum. Jelbas makes his debut at 

No.140, as the highest Jefferson-son worldwide. 

He ranks a little higher than his sire Jefferson. 

He transmits positively for protein and 

udder health. 

Well-known bulls 

Compared to August, the weighting of 

daughter information, which is combined with 

the genomic values, has been increased in 

favour of the conventional breeding values. 

Lemmna wins 7 RZG points to 134. He is the 

second highest Laudan-son after Leko. 

(No.35). Lancelot-son Lanon gains for RZG 

by 5 points (RZM 133, RZE 118; No.45) and 

Seramis (No.54) improves by 9 RZG points 

to 132 (RZM 121, RZE 132). Zar (No.56) 

owes his slight increase to the daughters in 3 rd 

lactation (RZM 128, +3). Truman increases, 

in particular, his RZN (123, +10) and goes up 

with RZG 132 to No.57. The Goldwin-son, 

Garrelt, increases his daughter count to 111 

and stays very constant (RZM 118, RZE 115, 

RZS 122; No.64). The Shottle-son Samburu 

gains slightly for all important traits (RZM 

119, RZE 125; No.66). Rotary (No.82) 

gains for production (RZM 115) and excels 

especially in the functional traits (RZS 129, 

RZN 123). Laudan-son Lauber has clearly 

improved for conformation to RZE 120 and 

presents himself as a very good all-rounder 

(No.85). Mendoza at No.89, is the highest 

Manager-son because of gains for conformation 

(RZE 119) and production (RZM 123). Titanic-son, 

Tilo, (RZM 112, RZE 131; No.142)

Cassano (No.162) improves slightly due to 

improved udder health (RZS 119, +4). 

Toscano, (Titanic x Champion) who was new 

in August, jumps to RZE 144 and is the second 

highest conformation sire after Van 

Toscano-daughter Troja 

Gogh. Omro, one of the oldest O-Man-sons, 

who are stronger in conformation, now has 

177 daughters (RZM 117, RZE 115; 

No.222). The early Shottle-sons, Silvano 

and Sedan cannot maintain their production 

level, but they slightly increase for RZE to 120 

and 131. NOG Macau (No.230), Zenjo 

and Sallas do not yet have second crop 

daughters and stay constant. Strobel wins 3 

RZG points to 119. The same can be said for 

Zabing RC (RZE 139). 

High reliability 

Bobas at No.19 gets second crop daughters 

and improves slightly (RZM 132, RZE 108). 

Jardin is very constant for RZG (No.23) with 

now total 6,341, but he increases a bit for 

RZS to 100. Laudan had to allow his best 

sons to overtake him but he still has an impressive 

RZG 131 (No.62) with more than 

50,000 daughters. Stylist triples his daughter 

count and gains for RZG to 131 (No.75). 

Emil II (No.155) and Leif (No.160) are able 

to bring their daughter count up to more than 

13,000 and 12,000 respectively with unchanged 

figures. Juwel gets many second 

crop daughters for the first time (RZG 125). 

The daughter count of Monami grows slowly 

but constantly (RZG 125, +2; No.212). 

500 new daughters are the reason why 

Eleve’s figures for production (RZM 110) 

and conformation (RZE 129) decrease slightly, 

but the daughters from the test period 

make the RZN increase to 106. Alliance has 

almost 500 daughters and increases slightly 

for production and the already high conformation 

(RZM 98, RZE 140). He is No.1 bull 

with high reliability for conformation. �

Red Holstein 

Tocar improves his figures with additional 

daughters from 2 nd crop. As a result of this, he 

extends his lead to 5 points with RZG 139 

(RZM 143, RZE 111). Jerudo also gets his first 

new daughters. The production and daughter 

fertility which increased slightly, promise more 

(RZM 124, RZE 119; No.2). Maximo-Red 

now is No.3. Kairo can clearly gain a lot 

(RZM 129, RZE 118; No.4), especially for udder 

health (RZS 110) and longevity (RZN 

111). Furthermore, this specialist for components 

impresses for functionality. Malvoy 

doubles his daughter count and goes up for 

RZE to 117 (RZM 126; No.5). One of the biggest 

winners is Tonikum (Talent x Rubens 

Red). Now he is the highest available red conformation 

sire with RZE 137 and also with 

RZM 112, RZS 116 as well as RZN 123: a real 

all-rounder with a reliability of 85%. Kiska 

goes up as his daughters are now in 3 rd lactation 

and also improved for longevity (RZM 

120, RZE 117, RZN 111; No.7). Tableau 

(No.8) is also able to improve and he is a very 

complete Talent-son (RZM 119, RZE 127). He 

confirms the high, predicted longevity with 

Tonikum-daughter Knolle 

RZN 120 through his daughters which are 

now in 2 nd lactation. The outcross sire, Westpoint 

(Westwind x Kian), gains for conformation 

(RZE 120, No.9). 

New 

The highest newcomer in the Top-10 is Clox. 

He is the first Canvas-son and offers a different 

pedigree on the maternal side with Jerom 

x Windsor x Lastrup. Clox combines lots of 

milk with good protein (RZM 130), excellent 

functionality and solid conformation (RZE 

120). At No.12, the first Colby-son, La 

Crosse, makes his debut with fantastic pro- 

duction transmission of +1,608kg milk and 

+0.11% protein (RZM 133). His dam is a sister 

of Malvoy. The second new Colby-son in 

the top list, Castory (No.38), is clearly higher 

for conformation with RZE 130. Furthermore 

he has good production figures (RZM 115). 

He descends from the family of Laurel (13,000 

daughters, No.58). Alicio is the third highest 

newcomer (No.17). Refrain (Reno 2 x Stadel; 

No.41) with RZE 111, transmits lots of milk, 

with milkability clearly above average. Seedorf 

at No.70 (RZE 120, RZM 117) is a late 

September-son from the family of world 

champion Tarona EX 96. 

Well known 

Among the well-known sires, Serano is now 

No.11 with 276 daughters from the test in 

Germany and Denmark (RZM 121, RZE 

112). The figures of Taurus increase a lot 

(RZM 117, RZE 127, RZS 101, RZN 117, 

RZG 126, +5; No.13). Talero also improves 

for production (RZM 113; No.69), but slightly 

loses for conformation (RZE 127). Both have 

now daughters in 2 nd lactation. The first sons 

of Ludox (No.15, 6,225 daughters) 

are coming, but they cannot 

come up to the sire. Tapas still has 

high figures for conformation (RZE 

111, No.16) and being the strongest 

Talent-son for production with 

RZM 126. DRH Seoul (September 

x Rudi-Red) has only information 

from 125 daughters from the test in 

Denmark so far. Regarding the additional 

genomically supported 

breeding values, he goes up a lot 

to RZG 125 which would be good 

for a place in the Top-20 (RZM 

118, RZE 119, RZS 120, RZN 

106). Carmano has more than 5,000 

daughters and increases by one point for RZE 

to 133 (No.28). Keel is an interesting Komturson 

who clearly improves for all conformation 

traits and increases by 11 points to RZE 135. 

Faromir gets his first 49 new daughters and 

returns to the Top-50 at No.44. Stabilo at 

No.45 now has 379 daughters and is very 

constant (RZM 115, RZE 115). Rugny 

(No.47), Ruleto (No.54) and Tiscali (No.73) 

do not yet have new daughters. Aval makes 

gains to RZM 109 (RZE 128). Lypoll P is still 

a very popular polled bull with RZM 106 and 

RZE 122 .�

Suarez 811100 TLTV 

(Shottle x Jocko Besne x Storm x Blackstar) 


Shottle already has 363 daughter proven sons worldwide. Suarez is in the 

Top-10 with RZG 134. Suarez’s overall transmission is quite similar to his famous 

sire’s. There is a sister of Suarez, classified VG 86 when she was 2 

years old, with more than 11,500 kg milk and 3.6% protein. The 87 Suarezdaughters 

so far are tall with lots of strength and capacity. Suarez transmits 

optimally angled feet & legs, even better than Shottle himself who transmitted 

somewhat more angle. Udders are carried very high from which Suarezdaughters 

give lots of milk (+1,535kg, RZM 119). The udders are high in the 

rear and have a long fore attachment. Teat placement is perfect and not too 

tight in the rear. Suarez has clearly improved for conformation compared to 

his first daughter breeding value in August (His progeny group immediately 

impressed the audience at the show “Blickpunkt Rind” in Paaren and was 

chosen as best progeny of the show). There are further clear gains for Suarez 

for udder health now with RZS 127. The Suarez-daughters show a very 

good temperament with average milkability. 

Tonikum 597197 TLTV 

(Talent 2 x Rubens-Red x Clifhanger x Storm) 

Tonikum is one of the highest improvers of the December proof run, having 

entered for the first time in August with only 29 daughters included in the genomically 

supported breeding value. He gained, in particular, for conformation 

to RZE 137 and now with 63 daughters, has become the highest available 

conformation sire for the Red Holsteins. The cow family’s conformation 

power which stands behind Tonikum is also confirmed by other sons. Tonikum 

is impressive for production transmission with RZM 112 (protein +0.12). 

Good udder health (RZS 116) and high values for calving ease, milkability 

and temperament slightly above average, complete the good all-round potential. 

In particular, Tonikum’s udder transmission is outstanding and faultless 

in all traits. The tall daughters, with good feet & legs, also show great 

development potential. 

Top-class polled genetics 

Polled animals offer breeders many advantages, 

but so far there has been a lack of 

bulls which were able to combine these advantages 

with good breeding values. The 

sole exception was our Red Holstein bull, 

Lypoll P – a production sire with very good 

conformation figures and, most importantly, 

the gene for being polled. 

As genomic selection has found its way into 

German Holstein breeding, we can now 

give breeders of both breeds more alternatives 

to the still popular bull Lypoll P. 

Among the young red bulls, Laron P should 

be mentioned first. He is a Red Holstein allrounder 

of the highest level who has an

Bulls like Premium-P, who is strong for production 

and Lypoll P-son, Logo-PP, have a 

special status among the polled sires. These 

bulls have the sought-after homozygous 

gene and, therefore breed solely polled

Shiney RF, who is in turn out of a Durham with the red factor and has his 

roots in the proven Splendor-family. Besides this unique sire line-up, Laron-P can offer another special 

characteristic as he is heterozygous polled and has therefore already been used as a sire of 

sons worldwide. His genomic breeding values show him to be a real fitness sire with very good

Many excellent daughters worldwide 

2010 was a very successful year for our 

sires. Not only the bulls themselves impressed 

breeders all over the world, but their 

daughters were also able to leave their 

mark. We would like to introduce some of 

these beauties to you. 

The beautiful Cassano-daughter Purzel 

scored EX 90 in her 3 rd lactation. She got 

an outstanding 91 points for her feet & 

legs. She is housed in the barn of the Seelhorst 

and Wendeln GbR and is the first 

Cassano-daughter from the test period to 

be scored “excellent”. If you saw this great 

progeny group at the DHV Show 2009, 

you will probably agree that she will not be 

the last to be thus classified. 

Purzel reached a 305 days production of 

11,844 kg with 4.10% fat and 3.23% protein 

in her 2 nd lactation.

audience at NRM in Holland 

For the first time, a group of Mascoldaughters 

from second crop was presented 

at NRM in Holland on June 25 th 2010. 

This group included 6 uniform, solid heifers 

that convinced both at the booth and 

in the ring. They represented at best the typical 

Mascol-progeny: solid, harmonic 

heifers of enough size. The heifers showed 

an optimal rump and good condition, and 

they moved on dry feet & legs with very 

good claws though. Udders were of best 

quality with good attachment. The suspensory 

ligament and teat placement were 

very good.

Killua GB Baler (Gibor x Brett x Baler Twine) 

was classified EX 92. She is housed at 

the farm of John Cunnane of the Lynbrook 

herd and stands out with her excellent type 

and outstanding production. Several interesting 

sons are already housed in Irish 

A.I. studs.

The first Alliance-daughter from the test period 

also scored “excellent” in her 3 rd lactation 

in 2010. JL Diana impressed with 

lots of type and enormous body capacity 

and got a total score of EX 91 after a 

single classification of 91-94-90-89. 

JL Diana completed her 2 nd lactation with a 

milk production of 11,464 kg milk with 

3.81 % fat and 3.19 % protein. 

Rustler-Red scored EX 97 

On June 29 th 2010, the well-known sire 

Rustler-Red scored with amazing EX 97 – 

classified by the Classification Commission 

in the US – at the age of 11 years and 3 

months. Rustler-Red seems to be the highest

average 2 points higher for conformation 

than their dams and they show impressively 

the outstanding conformation transmission

EX 90 in the United States.
