In addition, eddy current tests are often used to test <strong>aerospace</strong> structures<br />

during maintenance overhauls and to detect damage incurred in service.<br />

Such tests can be used to detect fatigue cracks (including those near<br />

fasteners) resulting from cyclic loading during flight, takeoff or landing. They<br />

can also be used to indicate the extent of corrosion damage or to identify<br />

portions of aircraft structures damaged by fire. In this way, it is possible to<br />

identify damaged components that need to be removed and replaced to<br />

restore the craft to airworthiness.<br />
