Trainings: • y The New Owner’s training consists of an overview of the licensing rules and procedures to open and operate a child care center. This training is 4.5 hours long and is led by child care licensing surveyors. • y The Small Group Home training consists of an overview of the licensing rules and procedures to open and operate a group home child care business. This training is 4.5 hours long and is led by child care licensing surveyors. • y The Director’s training is an open forum for questions and answers led by licensing surveyors for child care centers. At this 3 hour training, center directors can bring their concerns or questions to get clarification on the licensing rules or procedures. Professional Development Offered Professional Development sessions offered through the Arizona Department of Education Early Childhood Unit are typically provided at no cost! Some of the sessions offered: Introduction to the Infant Toddler Developmental Guidelines An interactive overview of the document. The Guidelines are meant to build awareness of the unique developmental characteristics of infants and toddlers and to increase awareness of quality infant and toddler caregiving and Introduction to the Program Guidelines The Program Guidelines for High Quality Early Education: Birth to Kindergarten provides a set recommended practices for programs to use as they strive for excellence in the care and education of young children. Language and Literacy Arizona Early Learning Standard Module Training Daily exposure to verbal and written language provides young children with the opportunities to begin acquiring a basic understanding of the concepts of literacy and its functions. In this six-hour session, participants will actively explore the Language and Literacy Standard. Ongoing Progress Monitoring Ongoing progress monitoring is an assessment system designed to collect information about a child or a group of children. Participants will look at their process and develop a system for completing ongoing progress monitoring in an effective and efficient manner that clearly meets the needs of their programs. Developmentally Appropriate Practices This guidance provides the core to any early childhood program from birth to the primary grades. In this interactive session, you will identify key components to quality early childhood practice and reflect on how practices, activities, and instructional methods should be evidenced in the classroom. Introduction to the Early Learning Standards The Arizona Early Learning Standards have been developed to provide a framework for the planning of quality learning experiences for all children 3 to 5 years of age. The standards cover a broad range of skills development and provide an instructional foundation for all children.
