I’m going to close this edition of
your bonsai review with another cooling theme in
bonsai display.
An English field maple (Acer campestre)
80cm tall in a pot by Bryan Albright stands
by a small lake in the early morning mist.
There is anticipation of a very hot day
ahead, but what better place to be than
under the cool shade.
I collected this tree from a quarry in South
Northamptonshire in 1970, so I must have
been working with bonsai for forty years
…….no wonder I need to sit in the shade!
The accent for this arrangement is
Heuchera var. fireworks. Although when in
flower it may be a good choice for Autumn
at bonfire night, here it might remind you of
the giant Gunnera plant that also provides
generous amounts of shade near waterside
locations. The pot is by John Dawson.
