Minor Incidents and Consequences<br />
<strong>Student</strong> Code of Conduct<br />
The table below outlines the possible consequences for various student behaviors. Examples of<br />
inappropriate behavior include, but are not limited to, those listed in the left-hand column. The right<br />
hand column lists the possible consequences, all of which may apply to any of the listed behaviors.<br />

• Taking other people’s<br />

• Tantrums (K–1)<br />
• Unkind toward other<br />
students<br />
<br />
Possible Consequences<br />
(More than one consequence may be assigned)<br />
The following may apply to all behaviors listed in the column<br />
to the left:<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may Take a Break.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may go to Buddy Room or Take A Break Out<br />
and complete a Fix-it Plan.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> will discuss and practice expected behavior<br />
with teacher and/or peers.<br />
• Mediation will occur between all participants. This will<br />
include a chance to “fix” relationships or objects.<br />
• Teacher may contact parent by note in take home<br />
folder.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may lose a privilege.<br />
• Teacher may contact parent by phone. <strong>Parent</strong> may be<br />
asked to speak to the student on the phone about the<br />
behavior and expectations.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may be given an assignment to be done at<br />
home.<br />
• <strong>Parent</strong> meeting may be requested.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may be given in-school community service to<br />
“fix” relationships or objects.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may be assigned an After-<strong>School</strong> Detention (3 rd<br />
– 8 th grade, 2 nd grade beginning January).<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may be assigned Saturday <strong>School</strong> (3 rd – 8 th<br />
grade, 2 nd grade beginning January).<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> may be sent home.<br />
*6 th – 8 th grade students MUST arrive to class on time. Should a student arrive late to class three times, a parent will be<br />
notified and a detention will be assigned. For Every 3 rd class lateness after that, a Saturday <strong>School</strong> will be assigned.<br />
Hierarchy of consequences:<br />
• If a student displays the same behavior for a third time, the student consequence will move to the next<br />
level of severity and a parent meeting will be required.<br />
• If a student has been assigned two After <strong>School</strong> Detentions, he/she will be assigned a Saturday <strong>School</strong>.<br />
• If a student has been assigned two Saturday <strong>School</strong>s, he/she may be suspended.<br />
If the behavior continues, it will be considered a Major Incident and one or more of the following<br />
may happen:<br />
• A parent conference may be requested by the classroom teacher and the Dean of students may be present.<br />
• A behavior chart/plan may be put into place. This is a temporary plan and will include frequent guardian<br />
meetings and daily teacher/guardian contact.<br />
• <strong>Parent</strong> conference may be requested, and other ICS team members (teachers, counselors, administration)<br />
may be present.<br />
