Gardiners Avenue PTA Committee Descriptions
• Arts in Education - Cultural Arts: Committee is responsible for selecting
assemblies and working with staff to schedule them for the school year.
• Audit Committee:
• Beatification: Committee is responsible for planting flowers and plants on
school grounds.
• Blood Drive: Committee is responsible for encouraging our schools blood
drive participation at LMEC twice a year.
• BOE: Committee is responsible for attending Board of Education Meetings.
• Boo Breakfast for Kindergarten: Committee is responsible for setting up the
refreshments for the Boo Breakfast for New Kindergarten Parents.
• Book Fair/Back School Book Fair: Committee is responsible for ordering,
checking inventory, and helping the students select books at our week long fair.
• Box Top For Education/Campbell Soup Labels: Committee is responsible for
submitting Box Tops & Campbell Soup Labels collected from our families.
• Budget Committee:

• Council Budget Committee: Committee members bring the needs of Gardiners Avenue
to the table at a district meeting monthly.
• Dollars for Scholars: Committee is responsible for collecting funds and bringing them to
the district meetings. The money is used for scholarships for seniors in our district.
• Elementary Curriculum: Committee meets once a month to discuss current educational
topics at the elementary level.
• Field Day/Fun Day: Committee is responsible for working with school staff to organize
the events. They also order the t-shirts to be worn that day.
• Food Service: Committee is responsible for bringing concerns in regard to the food that
is offered in our cafeteria to the monthly meeting.
• Health & Safety: Committee is responsible for meeting once monthly at LMEC. Report
back to the board the latest health and safety issues that are discussed.
• Holiday Boutique: Committee is responsible for a week long holiday shopping event
held at our school. The committee selects the items and labels them with prices tags.
They also help the children select items to purchase.
• Honorary Life: Honorary Life is an award given by New York State PTA to a community
member who goes above and beyond for our children. The committee is responsible for
requesting letters of nominations from PTA members and choosing the winner.
• Hospitality: Committee is responsible for setting up the refreshments before each PTA
meeting.
• Kindergarten Orientation: Committee is responsible for setting up refreshments and
helping out with Kindergarten Orientation.
• Kindergarten Pre-School: Committee is responsible for introducing the incoming
Kindergartners Gardiners Avenue prior to them starting their school year.
• LEADD: Levittown Education Against Destructive Decisions. Committee is responsible
for running the booth at the LEADD Fair and working with staff members to coordinate
programs for the children that promote healthy decision making during this week long
event.
• Math Week -
• Membership: Committee is responsible for collecting dues, filling out membership cards
and encouraging everyone to join PTA.
• Nominating Committee:
• Nutrition Week: Committee is responsible for the purchase of healthy snacks.
Volunteers are needed to help cut, peel and prepare the snacks as well as
serve them to the children.

• PARP: Committee is responsible for establishing ideas to coordinate with a yearly theme.
They also keep track of the three week reading contest. Author/Illustrator night is handled
by this committee also; this involves inviting local Authors to our school & Teachers to
Read.
• Picture Day/Spring Picture Day: Committee coordinates the scheduling for the week.
(New Company – committee responsibility to follow)
• Plant Sale: Committee is responsible for organizing a week long plant sale in May.
Committee needs to help unload the flowers off the truck.
• Red Ribbon Week: Committee is responsible for organizing a themed, weeklong
promotion of healthy lifestyle choices.
• Reflections: Committee is responsible for supporting the yearly theme of New York
State PTA. They coordinate and submit all entries collected from our students.
• School Kitz: Committee is responsible for taking orders for school supply kits and
distributing the orders when they come in over the summer. The teachers let the
committee know what supplies will be needed for each grade.
• Secondary Curriculum: Committee meets once a month to discuss current education
topics at the secondary level.
• SEPTA: Special Education Parent Teacher Association. Committee members work with
SEPTA and discuss Special Ed issues.
• Science Committee:
• Smoke House: Committee is responsible for contacting fire department and setting up
day for smoke house.
• Spirit wear: Committee responsible for placing orders on various items and distributing
them when they arrive.
• Teacher Appreciation: Committee is responsible for coordinating the luncheon to honor
our staff.
• Thanksgiving Food Drive: Committee responsible for collecting and putting together
Food Baskets for Less fortunate families in the school.
5 th Grade Committee
Committee will be responsible for all 5th grade events. Several lead chairpersons are needed to
oversee the numerous sub-committees that encompass this event.

• Back to School Barbeque: Committee is responsible for putting together a back to
school barbeque & carnival for Membership Drive

• Fall Festival: Committee is responsible for putting together a Fall Festival (Pumpkin
Patch, Plant Sale, activities for Children.

(decoration & ticket Sales)

• Ladies Night Out: Committee responsible for putting together Ladies Night Out Event.

merchandise.
• Valentine’s Dance: Committee is responsible for setting up two seasons. (Fathers &
Daughters First Session Mothers & Son’s Second Session).

• Newsletter: Committee is responsible for collecting news from classrooms, PTA
Sponsored Events and other areas of interest to publish in our newsletter.
• Website: Committee members are responsible for keeping our webpage on the district
website filled with up to date information and photos. (Get Monthly Minutes from
Secretary to Post ON Web Page)
• Bulletin Board: Committee is responsible for updating the Main Lobby Bulletin Board on
a monthly base’s with PTA Monthly Activities and Fundraisers.
• Publicity/Levittown Tribune: Committee is responsible for collecting news from
classrooms, PTA and other areas of interest to publish in Levittown Tribune.
