Number<br />
At the completion of this grade, students will be able to:<br />
a. read, write and order numbers to 100<br />
b. count objects to 100<br />
c. estimate number of objects to 100<br />
d. identify simple number patterns, including even and odd numbers<br />
e. count by twos, fives, and tens<br />
f. understand the place value system to hundreds place and identify the<br />
value of digits in a 2 or 3-digit number<br />
g. have fast recall of addition facts to 10<br />
h. compute addition and subtraction problems to 20<br />
i. use the commutative property with addition and understand the<br />
relationship between addition and subtraction<br />
j. use addition and subtraction equations to find unknown quantities<br />
k. understand the concept of multiplication and division in an informal<br />
problem situation<br />
l. use fraction names like half, third, fourth, etc. to describe part and whole<br />
relationships<br />
m. count money using Swedish coins and model purchasing<br />
Measurement<br />
At the completion of this grade, students will be able to:<br />
a. estimate and measure length using meters and centimeters<br />
b. estimate and measure capacity using liters and deciliters<br />
c. estimate and measure mass using kilograms<br />
d. estimate and measure temperature using Celsius degrees<br />
e. read and understand time on a face clock to 30 minute intervals<br />
Geometry<br />
At the completion of this grade, students will be able to:<br />
a. recognize symmetry and use it in diagramming
. sort, describe and name basic 2-D shapes: triangle, square, rectangle,<br />
circle<br />
Statistics<br />
At the completion of this grade, students will be able to:<br />
a. use the concept of sets and subsets<br />
b. take a survey, tally data, and fill in a simple graph to show conclusions<br />
c. read and interpret a simple graph or data sheet<br />
d. predict the likelihood of a series of events
