Spring is here and the weather is great for
taking the Corvette for a spin in the country.
A big group of us did just that March 14 th on a
run put on by Skip and Leigh Ann Severance.
The drive up the foothills to Cat Haven was
beautiful and the big cats amazing. We all
learned a lot about these great creatures.
Lunch on the way up and ice cream on the
way down made it a perfect day.
Speaking of perfect days the annual picnic is
coming up May 3 rd . Great food, music, games
and Corvette fellowship await all who come
and it’s FREE.
Our numbers are growing. Welcome
prospective members Rick and Becky Helm
and Art and Nancy White. It’s great they
have an interest in the club and they will
bring two new 2015’s into our group. That
will bring us to five C7s in the club.
There was an article in the newsletter in
October, 2010 that detailed how to plan and
carry out a successful run. It was adapted
from a report prepared by Keith Garrison and
his committee in July 1998 and has a lot of
helpful info.
The article has been updated and is given to
new members and we will publish it in the
newsletter. (See page 9)
We have some interesting and fun runs
coming up so let’s sign up. The participation
by members so far this year has been
outstanding - keep it up.
See you at the next meeting April 21 st .
SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
Jan De Mello-Pflepsen
Thanks again to all for the information to share with all CVC members.
1. From Kim Fosnaugh: “So sorry to miss everybody this week at the meeting. I
desperately need to get away from home (not Charlie) so we have hopped
onto a cruise this week San Francisco to Ensenada and back.”
Sounds like cabin fever to me!
2. Freddy and Paula had some very frightening news from their son about one
month ago. Their daughter-in-law was expecting to deliver in early May. She
had an emergency and ended up with an emergency C-section. The baby was
born weighing 2 pounds 2 ounces on Feb 4 th . His name is Gabriel and is the
first grandchild. Post-delivery the dtr-in-law, Danielle, was in a coma for 9
days. She has recovered and is in rehab.
3. Now Danielle is feeling much better and little Gabriel is growing. Because
Danielle was confined to ICU so long, her husband had to introduce Mom to
baby Gabriel. It was a very emotional time with tears all around. Needless to
say our prayers go out to the Fams and their family.
4. Freida Null phoned me last nite with some very interesting travel news.
Freida and Herb have just returned home with a month long vacation with 6
other couples. They went to New Orleans and sailed on the American Queen
Paddle Boat. Their travels included a tip to Bowling Green, Kentucky and then
on to Nashville. Freida had the good fortune to go back stage at the Grand
Ole Opry and visit with performers. She also had the privilege of standing on
the stage where celebrities stand and she sang a song. (That must have been
good!) While the other couples went home Freida and Herb went on to
Mississippi to visit with family for 3 days and then on to Branson, Missouri
where she saw 2 wonderful shows. From that point they returned home to
Selma with many wonderful memories. Thanks to all, JAN

CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES
HOW TO PUT ON A RUN
Decide what you want to do, coordinate dates and details with the VP of Activities
and then feel free to ask for help from a more experienced member.
Call the destinations cities visitor bureau and get recommended hotels and
restaurants and any known scheduled activities in the area for that same date. On
the pre-run give yourself enough time to visit some of these. Also check AAA travel
books and the internet. When arrangements are finalized with the hotel and
restaurants, try to get a group discount, get prices including taxes, types of rooms
and get a contract if available.
Establish a run fee based on everything that will have to be paid for like hospitality
room, food, refreshments, gifts, raffle prizes, bottle water, snacks, etc. You don’t
want to have to come up with the money yourself. If you go over, the money can be
put in the treasury.
Get with the Newsletter person and get a flyer in the newsletter a few months in
advance and talk it up at the meetings. Have a sign up sheet and collect any money
in advance of the run. Checks should be made out to CVC.
Depending on the run you may want to put together a tour packet that includes
maps, time lines, scheduled stops, cell phone numbers of leaders and sweep and
give it out the first morning. Make sure your sweep has everything you have just in
case he has to take over the run. People get sick, cars break, etc.
When you pre-run it, if necessary, keep track of distances and times between rest
stops, gas stops, food stops, alternate routes, etc. If you are getting help see if they
want to go with you on the pre-run.
A few days before the run call all hotels, restaurants, tours, etc just to make sure
everything is still a go.
Remember doing runs is what this club is all about, do your best to plan everything,
ask for help and have fun.
AND REMEMBER FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR MEMBERS, WE SHOULD NOT DRINK
AND DRIVE.
WHEN YOU ARE READY TO PLAN A RUN OR IF YOU
NEED A MORE DETAILED VERSION OF THIS WRITE-UP
CONTACT THE VP OF ACTIVITIES
IF YOU NEED HELP, ASK ANY MEMBER
‘In the Garage’ with Charlie Fosnaugh
Gold Chrome-Wrapped Corvette
is as Flashy as They Come
When it comes to tuning an already fast and good-looking machine such as the Corvette,
chances are most people will go for stickier rubber, larger wheels or a horsepower bump.
That doesn't apply to the owner of this flashy Forgiato widebody Chevrolet Corvette though.
During our test-drive of the C7 Corvette with the Z51 Performance Package, we were
enthralled by the 460 horsepower of the LT1 Small-Block V8 and the poised chassis. But then
again, the jaw-dropping visuals of the Stingray are more enticing than the performance.
For this reason alone, I'm trying to understand why did the owner of this $150,000 Forgiato
widebody Corvette upped the tuning ante to such lengths that he also commissioned a gold
wrap for his pride and joy. Thankfully though, a matte black wrap has been applied to
contrast the gold wrap to some extent.
Overall, it's hard to get over this 'Vette's "Look at me!" credentials
An interesting detail we found out by watching the video below is that London-based Gold &
Co. has sponsored the car. The British outfit is well known for its gold-plated iPhone 6s,
iPads and BlackBerry terminals, but putting its name on a gold-wrapped Corvette is
something new...
This being a Forgiato-enhanced product, the alloy wheels are also made by the tuner. On
this occasion, the company's F2.21-ECL forged wheels were used. The F2.21-ECL range
varies from 20 to 26 inches and can be personalized in 11 ways according to each and every
customer's preference.
Now press play on the link below and watch this gold-wrapped 'Vette in action. Burnouts and
donuts included.
