WEEK 11· FRIDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2010
REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
Yesterday, at exactly 11.00, our girls and the boys of Northcote Lodge stood
together in silence for two minutes at St Michael’s, Bolingbroke Grove, following
a powerful address by Mr Alec Synge during at our annual Remembrance Day
service. Anna Fox read Laurence Binyon’s famous tribute to the fallen, after which
Ollie Geffen sounded Last Post. A solemn and moving occasion; Mr Synge wrote
to me afterwards “The children were beautifully behaved and turned out; I felt
proud to be involved with the schools as I looked over the pews”. So did I.
Fantastic results from all our matches on Saturday and
Harrodian on Saturday, with the A team playing particularly
well. And all-round wins again on Monday against Newton
NOTES FROM THE HEAD
We have received a furious complaint from Queen Elizabeth
House about parents repeatedly parking in their car park.
The final straw for them was the need to carry a patient
some distance to an ambulance as someone was parked in
an ambulance bay. I do ask again that no parent uses any
of the local car parks when dropping off or picking up as it
does considerable damage to the reputation of the school.
Queen Elizabeth House tell me that they have recruited a
clamping company who have authority to clamp and remove
any car that does not have permission to park.
Mrs Carole Jenkinson – Head of Upper School
ISEB REVISION GUIDES
During the Curriculum Evenings at the start of the year,
we recommended some ISEB Revision Guides to Class 7
and 8 in preparation for the Common Entrance exams. We
also explained that some guides contain so many mistakes
or different ways of teaching that they are not useful and
would only confuse our girls. We urge you please to only
purchase those books on our recommended list. We are
already aware of some girls having learned information
straight from the wrong books and they have lost marks
as a result. Please see our website for a full list of recommended
books.
