Halloween/Fall Special Events 13<br />

24th Annual Halloween Creative Writing Contest<br />

All area high school and middle school students are invited to show their<br />

creative writing chops by submitting an original Halloween themed short<br />

story or poem. Entries may be submitted to any English teacher<br />

between September 19th and October 7th. All entries must be<br />

350 words or less, typed, and double-spaced. Please include a<br />

cover page with title, author’s name, school, grade, and English<br />

teacher’s name. Winners will be announced on October 28th.<br />

Window Donations Needed!<br />

<strong>Cuyahoga</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> merchants interested in donating a window<br />

(or two!) for use in the 54th annual Halloween Window<br />

Painting Contest are encouraged to please call the Parks<br />

and Recreation Department at 330-971-8225 to register.<br />

Windows can be any shape or size, however please note<br />

that all donated windows should be easily accessible and<br />

should not contain window panes. Join in the Halloween<br />

spirit, spice up your business’s windows and help support<br />

local students in this fun <strong>Cuyahoga</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> tradition!<br />

54th Annual Window<br />

Painting Contest<br />

Showcase your artistic abilities in this exciting Halloween<br />

tradition! All High School and Middle School students are<br />

invited to submit an 8 ½” x 11” Halloween themed drawing<br />

to their art teacher by Thursday September 22nd. Students<br />

chosen to paint their drawings on area windows will<br />

be notified by September 30th and painting will take place<br />

from October 1st through the 16th. Winners will receive a<br />

Halloween trophy!<br />

Family Friendly Monster Mash Halloween Bash!!<br />

Come to the Quirk Cultural Center this October for a spooky good time! This fun,<br />

non-scary Halloween party will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Saturday,<br />

October 8th. Ticket prices are $10 per person for residents<br />

and $12 per person for nonresidents, and includes dinner,<br />

DJ and dancing, a keepsake photo, and a spooky treat<br />

bag for the little ones. Participants are encouraged to<br />

wear a Halloween costume. Reservations must be made in<br />

advance starting September 23rd for residents and September<br />

30th for nonresidents by calling the Quirk Cultural center at 330-<br />

971-8425. There is no online registration for this event. Come<br />

join the spooky fun!<br />

Community Halloween Party at <strong>Falls</strong> River Square!<br />

Join your friends and neighbors to celebrate Halloween,<br />

<strong>Cuyahoga</strong> <strong>Falls</strong> style! This fun event sponsored by the Parks<br />

and Recreation Department will be held rain or shine on Saturday,<br />

October 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at <strong>Falls</strong> River Square.<br />

Admission to this event and participation in the Don Sitts Auto<br />

“Trunk or Treat” are FREE! Bring a pre-carved pumpkin for<br />

entry in one of the following carving contest categories: Largest,<br />

Smallest, Best Decorated, Scariest, or Most Original. A<br />

Costume Contest will also be held with categories that include:<br />

birth-18 months, 19 months-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-10 years.<br />

Please be seated in the amphitheater by 2:15 to participate in the costume contest.<br />

A $5 activity stamp may be purchased for unlimited access to hayrides, petting<br />

zoo, and other attractions. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.<br />
