Agile Testing – 15 Tips on Scrum
The four values and twelve principles of the agile manifesto are neutral towards the test approach.
And also on the manifesto based frameworks, such as scrum, give hardly any handles on
how testing with an agile software development environment can be integrated and what the
consequences are for ‘professional testers’.
Moreover, in practice the meanings of and relationships between, lean, agile and scrum are not
equally clear to everyone. It will therefore not be surprising that the introduction of a test approach
in a scrum framework is not always a smooth one. And this while testing is not only an
extremely important activity, it also must be fully integrated with the scrum framework. I know
this may be difficult and hard to oversee, because there are so many variables which must be
taken into account. That's why I’ll show you in this presentation how a test approach in a scrum
framework can be applied. I’ll give you 15 practical tips to implement.
Leo van der Aalst (Sogeti) has more than 25 years of testing experience. Furthermore Mr. van
der Aalst is lector “Software Quality and Testing” at Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Eindhoven,
The Netherlands) and he is co-author of the books: TMap NEXT ® and scrum, TMap NEXT ®
for result-driven testing and TMap NEXT ® Business Driven Test Management. Besides all this, Mr.
van der Aalst is a much sought-after teacher of international test training, a regular speaker at
national and international conferences, and he is the author of many articles (e.g. Testing in agile
software development environments with TMap NEXT).

on different test innovations like testing clouds, model-based services, and using new media
in testing. In the field as a manager or consultant he’s always been working in the ‘grey’ area between
IT and Business. In 2011 Mr. Roodenrijs won the Capgemini/Sogeti Innovation Award in
Testing. He also co-authored books on quality and testing in IT; he speaks at conferences around
the world, authored various national and international articles in expert magazines and created
various training courses.

Acht Fragen zu Model Based Testing
Die Einführung von modellbasiertem Testen verspricht viele Verbesserungen im Testprozess: effizientere
Erstellung und Wartung der Testspezifikation, höhere und transparente Testabdeckung,
und sogar eine frühe zusätzliche Prüfung der Testbasis. Den Vorteilen stehen aber auch Rahmenbedingungen
und Nachteile gegenüber. Einsparungen von manuellen Testaktivitäten werden zum
Beispiel durch Zusatzaufwand für die Erstellung der Modelle erkauft. Projekt- und Testmanager
stehen also vor der Frage, ob modellbasiertes Testen in ihrer konkreten Testorganisation eine
sinnvolle Investition darstellt.
Herr Mühlbauer erläutert in diesem Vortrag die acht wichtigsten Fragen, deren Beantwortung den
Erfolg einer Model Based Testing - Einführung in einer Testorganisation beeinflusst. Darunter sind
Fragen nach der Testprozessreife, dem Management-Bedarf (z.B. Nachweis der Testabdeckung),
dem technischen Bedarf (z.B. Testautomatisierung), den Rahmenbedingungen (z.B. Änderungshäufigkeit
der Testbasis), oder der Personalqualifikation.
Dominique Mühlbauer (Sogeti) ist ein Testexperte mit weitgehender internationaler Erfahrung
in den unterschiedlichsten Branchen. Neben seiner Arbeit als Testmanager & Testberater, arbeitet
er im Innovationsteam der Sogeti Deutschland GmbH an der Weiterentwicklung von Testmethodiken.
In seiner Rolle war er auch an der Entwicklung der Vision und dem Buch von Point Zero beteiligt.
