Summer Term—Issue 2
Friday 26th April 2013
Dear Parents,
For those of you who follow football, you might
appreciate the significance of our year 7 football team
winning their league on the same evening as Manchester
United secured the premiership title. A ‘coach-load’ of
supporters made the trip to Chelsea’s training ground at
Cobham to cheer on our talented year 7 team who put on
a very assured performance to win 6 – 0. Mr Lansiquot,
Manager and Head Coach for the team, has worked
tirelessly all year to train and prepare for Monday
evening, and with the end of the season now upon us,
rumours abound that Barcelona are looking for a new
manager. Well done to everyone involved!
Staying with sport, we congratulate Nathan Bekele from
year 10 who ran in the youth section of the London
Marathon and was placed a very credible 20 th against
national opposition.
With opportunities for our young people to develop their
sporting talents as well as academic avenues, it should
never come as a surprise that we get inundated every
year with applications for places at Sacred Heart School.
Our Year 6 admissions appeals take place on Monday and
at this most stressful of times, we remember those
involved in the process.
WORKING
TOGETHER
TO ACHIEVE
Public exams tend to dominate the life of the school
for the next six weeks or so, and while teachers are
busy preparing revision material and running extra
classes, we should not forget how daunting this time
of year can be for many of our pupils as they sit in the
exam hall. And so we always remember that our
young people understand that they are loved and
cared for, and that with the support of those around
them we only want them to do of their very best.
- Ms B Boyle
Deputy Headteacher
HOUSE NEWS
NEW SIGN-UP SHEET SYSTEM
The house competition for this term is starting next
week on Wednesday 1 st May. Are you in Year 7? Do
you have athletic skill? Can you work well in a team?
If the answer is yes, then the athletics competition is
your chance to win points for your house. The Year 7
athletics competition will be running after school next
Wednesday, in the gym. If you are interested in being a
part of your house team, go and sign up for your house
in the PE department.
The dodgeball tournament will be rescheduled to a
later date in the school term.
In the future for house events, a sign-up sheet will be
posted for students to sign up for house events. If you
would like to play/represent your house in any further
house competitions, then you will have to sign-up,
instead of going to see your house leader directly. Your
house leader will then select students from the list to
compete. This new system will enable all the students
to be pro-active about supporting their houses. The sign
-up sheets will temporarily be in the PE department,
until a permanent home is found for them in the school.
GET INVOLVED IN THE HOUSE COMPETITION AND
COME AND SUPPORT YOUR HOUSE!!!

will you be the one to be CAUGHT READING?
If you have been “caught reading”, you can claim your prize from Madam
Price in the English office, room 2.07.
Check out the newsletter each week… It could be you!
