USE 30th Anniversary Celebration<br />

Dinner<br />

28 November 2008 marked an important date in the<br />

history of Union of Security Employees (USE) – we<br />

held our 30th Anniversary Celebration cum Funding<br />

Raising Dinner at Meritus Mandarin Hotel Ballroom.<br />

The event kicked off with a coordinated march-in by<br />

security officers from our unionised companies as<br />

well as members of the USE Executive Council to<br />

welcome our Guest-of-Honour, Deputy Secretary-<br />

General, Mr. Heng Chee How. Tokens of appreciation<br />

and recognition were given out to our industry partners<br />

including two of our USE ex-General Secretaries,<br />

Mr. Yusoff Marican and Mr. Ryan Cheong. The<br />

dinner successfully raised about $100,000 in funds<br />

towards the USE Bursary & Scholarship Award.<br />

USE would like to thank all donors/helpers who have<br />

generously donated/contributed towards the event.<br />

Security Industry Career Fair 2009<br />

To promote security jobs and facilitate placement of<br />

more jobseekers into the private security industry,<br />

the Singapore Workforce Development Agency<br />

(WDA), supported by Union of Security Employees<br />

(USE), <strong>NTUC</strong> Women Development Secretariat<br />

(WDS), Security Association (Singapore) (SAS) and<br />

Association of Certified Security Agencies (ACSA),<br />

organised a Security Industry Career Fair on 25 and<br />

26 April 2009 at the Suntec Singapore International<br />

Convention Centre Concourse (3rd floor). The job<br />

fair was estimated to attract more than 1,000 job<br />

applicants from all walks of life to fill up more than<br />

200 available security job positions. New programmes<br />

such as the Security Supervisor Conversion<br />

Programme (SSCP) and Professional Conversion<br />

Programme (PCP) for Security Executives to assist<br />

unemployed/retrenched PMETs/workers to enter the<br />

security industry were also rolled out at the event.<br />
