destination by promoting all sectors of the economy
with an interest in local food and drink.
Field-to-Fork
This “field-to-fork” approach has certainly proven
successful. Pay a visit to any good restaurant or food
retailer and you’ll find numerous examples of local
produce. Everything from cranberries, mushrooms,
lettuce and maple syrup – all from Muskoka – can be
enjoyed, as well as meat products and wines.
Many resorts, in fact, have gone so far as to produce
their own “made in Muskoka” produce. Homegrown
items on its menus, including such things as honey
and maple syrup. Staff are not averse to foraging for
the freshest ingredients, and will even work closely
with grounds keepers to plant and nurture interesting
native varieties of vegetables.
You can also enjoy the region’s bountiful harvest of
excellent produce at a variety of quality culinary
events, trails, packages and experiences across
Muskoka. In addition, many restaurants highlight
signature items indicating that they’ve been made
with local products.
