In addition to all that
fantastic wilderness just
waiting to be explored,
Muskoka is home to a
tremendous variety of
unforgettable
experiences youngsters will simply love. Topping the
list is that ageless favourite, Santa’s Village Family
Entertainment Park. Located in Bracebridge, Santa’s
Village has been entertaining kids of all ages for over
50 years. An un-filled trip to Santa’s Village includes
the pay-as-you-play Sportsland Park with its thrilling
go-carts, mini-golf, batting cages, zip-lines and
trekking, laser tag and an arcade, as well as an
excellent river cruise.
Wannabe pirates and sailors will want to visit the world
famous RMS Segwun, North America’s oldest still
operating steamship. Throughout the summer this
classic vessel, along with its sister ship Wenonah II,
hosts a variety of exciting adventures for kids,
including the excellent Pirate Cruise. Animal lovers
in your family will want to visit for the Noah’s Ark
Cruise, complete with a selection of local furry friends.
While visiting the ships,
be sure to pop across to
the Muskoka Boat and
Heritage Centre for its
fascinating collection of
antique boats, steamship
memorabilia and fun
digital games for kids.
Another great attraction
for kids is the always fun
Bala Museum, located
in the former summer
cottage of Anne of Green
Gables creator Lucy Maud
Montgomery. In addition
to its fun displays,
the museum’s very handson,
and even encourages visitors to dress up in period
costumes.
Finally, what child wouldn’t enjoy spending time at one
of Muskoka’s wonderful summer camps? The choices
are endless, and include everything from sports camps
to camps focusing on theatre and the arts.
