4.0 SUPPORT SYSTEM<br />
To facilit<strong>at</strong>e <strong>learning</strong>, the following support services were provided:<br />
4.1 Learning M<strong>at</strong>erials<br />
Learning m<strong>at</strong>erials provided include specially constructed printed modules and<br />
where necessary, this is supplemented with audio/video tapes, CD-ROMS and<br />
other reading m<strong>at</strong>erials.<br />
4.2 User ID and Password<br />
Every student is provided with a single sign on user ID and Password. This user<br />
ID and Password allows the student to access:<br />

• MyOUM<br />
• E-mail<br />
• Learning Management System<br />
• Digital Library<br />
This is a portal th<strong>at</strong> is customized to an individual user. Through this portal, user<br />
can access E-mail, Learning Management System and the Digital Library. Online<br />
bulletin, announcements, timetable, assignment questions, examin<strong>at</strong>ion results<br />
and sampled exam questions are ‘push’ to the students through MyOUM.<br />
4.4 Learning Management System<br />
LMS is an applic<strong>at</strong>ion th<strong>at</strong> allows students, tutors and administr<strong>at</strong>ors to upload<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion for the purpose of <strong>learning</strong>, support and keeping track of the <strong>learning</strong><br />
process. Some of the fe<strong>at</strong>ures provided include course content, discussion<br />
board, announcements, evalu<strong>at</strong>ion and progress report. The LMS was locally<br />
developed and designed with the ease of use in mind.<br />
4.5 Digital Library<br />
The digital library was designed with an ‘<strong>open</strong>’ concept in support of the<br />
University’s vision and mission, and to ensure the availability of digital collections<br />
anytime and anywhere in support of the <strong>open</strong> <strong>learning</strong> environment. Currently,<br />
the library is using an integr<strong>at</strong>ed library management system, namely the Virtua<br />
