Membership
An application had been received from students at Reading University regarding
incorporating their new Cycling Club into our Sunday rides. After discussion it was agreed
that SF would reply suggesting either affiliate to CTC or join RCC as Second Claim to cover
insurance regulations.
Press
RF gave notice that he would be standing down from the position of Press Sec at the next
AGM but was hoping to stay on the committee. The committee thanked him for his work over
the years and hoped he would continue as a committee member where his experience and
expertise could continue to be of benefit to the club.
Secretary
Experiencing great difficulty in obtaining marshals and helpers for the club 50.
The question of mandatory marshalling/helper duties when joining the club was raised again
and SF stated he had reiterated via emails to members but with little result. It was agreed to
discuss this in more detail when more members were present, hopefully at Julys meeting.
Action All
Social
Report received via email:-
Monthly midweek ‘Summer Series Social’ ride for May was attended by myself and one other
club member plus his teenage son. Not a resounding success and perhaps not what the
membership wants, will see what occurs at June one on the night of the Club 10.
Film Night II – had to cancel as by the day before only had 13 takers (at least 6 pulled out
having emaile that they could attend. We would have lost money on this as the break even
number was 20.
In summary despite my efforts it appears that either the membership are 99% happy with
what is already on offer or apathy reigns supreme in RCC – I am sure you can guess which
of these I suggest is the case.
Sportive
Absent
Time Trials
The club 10 Champs has 25 entries so far and Colin Bates and Nick English have agreed to
officiate. The 25 still needs volunteers to run it.
Treasurer
Report received via email:-
Bank £5,406.40
Cash £110.78
Accounts completed for RCC Road Race (BC) show an unexpected £240 surplus due to late
entrants replacing rider ‘no shows’ on the day. Healthy positive cash flow from clothing sales.
Welfare Officer Absent
5. Any Other Business
Road Race Series - to be discussed when more present.
Marshalling duties – to be discussed when more present.
There being no further business the meeting was declared closed and the next meeting
confirmed as 8pm Wednesday 6 July 2011at the New Hope Centre.
