<strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong><br />
a $25,000 grant for the Mary<br />
Dow Center for Cancer Care expansion<br />
project.<br />
The Mary Dow Center provides<br />
care to patients with cancer,<br />
osteoporosis, anemia, multiple<br />
sclerosis, immune deficiencies,<br />
and neurological diseases.<br />

More than $50,000 Raised for MCMH’s Breast Clinic<br />
The new Mary Dow Center for Cancer Care is projected to open in winter <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
In March, members of <strong>Maine</strong><br />
<strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong>’s<br />
Corporation attended a breakfast<br />
meeting with guest speaker<br />
David Winslow, <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong><br />
Association (MHA) Vice President<br />
of Financial Policy.<br />
Winslow commented on the<br />
continuing challenges faced by<br />
<strong>Maine</strong> hospitals such as state<br />
budget cuts and rising costs associated<br />
with uncompensated<br />
healthcare. He also referenced<br />
how <strong>Maine</strong> hospitals are working<br />
with the State to develop<br />
strategies for lowering costs and<br />
improving quality. Mr. Winslow<br />
noted that in 2011, the Agency<br />
for Healthcare Research and<br />
Quality rated <strong>Maine</strong>’s hospitals<br />
third-best in the country for<br />
quality of care.<br />
The more than 100 Corporators<br />
share an interest in local community<br />
healthcare, and provide guidance<br />
and expertise to <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong><br />
<strong>Hospital</strong>’s Board of Directors.<br />

Over 400 community members showed their support<br />
of <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> <strong>Hospital</strong> by<br />
sponsoring and attending the 19th annual Chefs’ Gala<br />
sponsored by Camden National Bank and hosted by<br />
WLBZ News Center 2 team. This year’s proceeds will<br />
be used to make renovations to upgrade the breast<br />
clinic and for mammogram scholarships.<br />
