Show Information: 

Northcote is very easily accessible with large vehicles. We are around 10 minutes from 

the M6 down a major road, in a straight line. Take J31 off the M6 and follow signs for 

A59 Clitheroe. If travelling from the north you will want to keep left and take the first 

exit at the first round about. From the south it’s right (3 rd exit) and straight on at the 

adjoining roundabout. Drive up the dual carriageway staying in the left hand filter lane at 

the next roundabout for A59 Clitheroe. After a short distance you will pass British 

Aerospace on your right, followed by a small roundabout, go straight ahead and follow 

the road for around 6 miles. You will approach a very large roundabout, before the 

roundabout (approx 150 yards) turn left down Northcote Road (larger vehicles may 

want to go around the roundabout and take advantage of the wider swing available), 

past the hotel immediately on your right, we are the next gate on the right (approx 250 

yards). Approach the large black gates and follow signs for your parking area. If the 

gates are closed, pull up close and they will open inwards. If arriving after 8:30pm these 

gates will be locked, please call as you pass British Aerospace to let us know and we’ll be 

waiting for you at the gate. You will be parked in different car-parks based on the 

duration of your stay, please follow signs carefully. 


Food & Drink 

Breakfast will be available in the Marquee from 7:30 each morning and the breakfast menu will be 

served until 11:00am. Hot & cold food service will continue throughout the day and into the evening 

with a full bar. Tables in the restaurant will also be available with an interesting and varied menu, we

Boot Rule 102.14 will apply to all age sections, championships and to the talent seekers. 

All preliminary rounds are open to any horse eligible under British Showjumping rules, however only 

those of the correct age group may qualify for the Sunday finals. 

Where a championship prelim is incorporated into a national class, riders in the prelim must have 

entered the championship series to be eligible for qualification. 

All horses entered in a championship series will be automatically entered into the first prelim on the 4 th 

June, you must declare your intent to jump in the second prelim by 18:00 on the 4 th June and entries for 

the final must be received by noon on the 6 th June. 

 

Rule 76.6 applies to all classes! 

ONLY IN EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES WILL A RIDER BE PERMITTED TO MOVE DOWN THE DRAWN ORDER, THIS 

DECISION WILL BE MADE BY THE JUDGES. 

OVERALL CHAMPION FROM EACH AGE CATEGORY WILL RECIEVE FREE ENTRY AT THE BRITISH YOUNG HORSE 

CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 PROVIDING THEY ARE QUALIFIED BY THE CRITERIA OUTLINED UNDER RULE 67 – YOUNG HORSE 

LEAGUE. 

THE CHAMPION HORSES WILL ALSO RECIEVE A PLACE IN THE FINAL OF THEIR AGE GROUP AT SCOPE 2015 PROVIDING 

THEY ENTER AND COMPETE IN THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS. 


First Aid is payable at £4.00 per rider, per day.

to determine the overall Champion who will receive the entry for the British Young Horse

sloping oxer as the final fence 1.05m Open to rider/horse combination/s qualified from Classes. Judged on

For registered horses in grade B&C as at 1st Jan 2015 and all 7 year old horses born in 2008, 

irrespective of grade, to be ridden by Full, Associate or Junior members. Breeding papers are 

mandatory & must be lodged & approved by British Showjumping at time of registration. Rule 300 

speed 350mpm, Table A10, Starting Height 1.30m. Four horses to qualify for the Talent Seekers 

Championship at HOYS 2015, to include the highest placed 7 year old, i.e. if the highest placed seven 

year old is placed lower than fourth it will take the qualifying position and those placed first, second 

and third will qualify, disregarding those already qualified. Boot rule will apply. This class is very

accordance with rule 314.6. Table two phase rule 286, speed 325mpm. This class is very generously

RULES AND REGULATIONS 

1. The judges’ decision is final. 

2. Riding hats MUST be worn at all times when mounted and comply with Rule 101/3 and 101/4. 

3. Telephone entries or entries received without the appropriate fee WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 

4. The Organisers will not accept any legal liability for accidents, loss, damage, injury or illness to 

horses, owners, grooms, riders, spectators or any property owned by them. 

5. In accordance with Rule 82.20 no member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as 

owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any 

Showjumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the 

public are not at risk of injury. Also refer to rule 102.12 

6. British Showjumping Stewards, Judges, Development Officers and Show Organisers have the 

jurisdiction to disqualify any stallion from a show, if, in their opinion, it is behaving in such a way 

likely to cause accident and/ or injury to other horses/ponies, competitors, their associates or any 

member of the public. Should this occur the animal should be returned to its stable or horsebox 

immediately and may be asked to leave the show site. It is the responsibility of the owner and rider 

to ensure their stallion is properly restrained in that any stallion leaving its lorry of stables must 

wear a bridle at all times. 

7. The event will run strictly in accordance with British Showjumping Rules. 

8. Objections must be made in writing to the Secretary within 30 minutes of any incident together 

with a deposit of £100. The deposit will be repaid if the objection is sustained. 

9. Practice fences will be flagged and must be jumped in the correct direction. 

10. Where there are fewer than 4 starters in class, the show organisers may cancel the class. If there 

are more than 4 or more starters then the class will run. Also refer to Rule 76.14. 

11. Junior members competing on horses are only able to do so from the beginning of the calendar 

year in which the age of 12 is reached. 

12. All damage/loss to stables or equipment is competitor’s liability. 

13. Dogs are permitted on the showground, however they must be kept on a lead at all times and the 

dogs owner is responsible for any mess. 

14. Electric hook-up is available and must be booked in advance. Anyone found to be using hook up 

without displaying a valid hook up pass will be disconnected by any means and asked to leave the 

show ground without refund. 

Style & Performance 

Class 1 (c) is a special competition. For the purposes of determining the overall Champion, both rounds 

of this class will be judged on the presentation and jumping technique of the horse as well as accuracy. 

Points will be awarded by the judges in both rounds on: 

Presentation: The horse should maintain an even, well-balanced canter throughout the whole course. It 

should not be interrupted when approaching the fences, the rider being able to control each stride. 

The following will be observed:- an even speed, response to rider, flexibility. 


Jumping Technique: The horse should not pull, but be easy to ride and careful. It should have a good style, 

it should bascule and should use the back well with an effort that is appropriate to the height of the fence. 

The horse’s leg technique will also be taken into consideration. 

Points awarded by the judges for presentation and jumping technique in both rounds will be added 

together. The horse with the highest points will be deemed the overall Champion.
