Durdach Brothers: 75 years and expanding

Started in 1938 by his father and uncle, Richard
Durdach has expanded Durdach Bros. Inc. in terms
of both distribution area and brands of beer.
“Durdach Bros. started in 1938. That was up in
Shamokin.
Prior to 1938
my grandfather

in the beer
business,”
Durdach
explained.
The business
began
with
Durdach’s
Uncle Paul
Durdach and
father John.
But after
starting the
business,
John entered
the Navy. It
wasn’t until
after a stint
of working
for the
University of
Notre Dame
that John
came back to
the business
he helped
create with
his brother.
In 1965
they moved
the company
to Paxinos
where its
headquarters
still are
today. And
the company
was incorporated
a year
later in 1966.
As Durdach explained, the company’s main
beer that it distributed was Genesee. Before it
his death John set a goal of selling 1 million
cases of Genesee, and Durdach said he was
proud to see his dad live to achieve it.

Durdach Bros. Inc. use temperature-controlled rooms to
store their goods in. The warehouse holds about six weeks
of inventory. The company, started in 1938, was mainly a
distributor of Genesee and still works with the brand to this
day.
