School Board Places Levy on the Ballot
The Tipp City Board of Education approved a five year, 7.95 mills Emergency tax levy to be placed on the ballot
at the August 7, 2012 special election. The State has cut $1.3 million out of Tipp City School’s funding for this
past school year, and the State will be cutting more in the upcoming school year. Tipp City Schools’ will have a
decrease of $2,934,892 in state funding as compared to FY2011; and adding the additional loss of $240,000 from
EdJobs and another State reduction of $312,500 in State aid for FY2013 means Tipp City Schools will be working
with $3,487,392 less dollars than in FY2011. The need to balance the budget this year and future years requires
the District to make significant budget cuts and ask the community for more funding. The Board of Education is
giving Tipp City / Monroe Township residents an opportunity to decide if they want the District to make
additional cuts in staffing and programs, or keep the level of staffing that we need to work towards our Excellent
rating. The District has had Excellent ratings the last eight years out of ten and 6 years in a row. This is the first
time in three years that the Board has asked the Tipp City School voters for new money. For a list of the cuts and

StageCrafters Summer Theatre Camp is in Full Swing!
StageCrafters Summer
Theatre Camp is hosting its
7th annual children’s theatre
program of Roald Dahl’s
Willy Wonka Jr. The camp
focuses on introducing
elementary students to the
world of musical theatre by working together over the course of
two weeks to build, rehearse, and perform a musical using 80
elementary students and directed by a team of high school and
college counselors. The Community is invited to three free
public performances on Friday, June 22 at 7:00 pm and
Saturday, June 23 at 3:00 & 7:00 pm.
Safety City in Tipp City!
Safety City is underway. It is a structured program for
children entering kindergarten to introduce them to basic
safety rules. The program has been highly successful in
preparing young ones for the challenges of traveling to
and from school. Activities are fun and full of
learning. Safety training is demonstrated by members of
Tipp City's public safety departments. Safety City is
presented as a public service by Community-Minded
Women in cooperation with Tipp Monroe Community
Services, the Tipp City Board of Education, and the police, fire and emergency medical services departments of
the City of Tipp City. Safety City is held in June of each year.
