THANKS TO THE FALL ELECTIONS, there’s a new crop of<br />
<strong>Georgia</strong> lawmakers joining the veterans this year – at least three dozen in<br />
the House of Representatives and five in the Senate. At presstime, two<br />
races in the House and one in the Senate had not been decided.<br />
There are some leadership changes this year – some expected, some<br />
surprising; but the Republicans have increased their numbers and<br />
strengthened their majority.<br />
Legislators new and old will be challenged by more belt-tightening<br />
and budget-cutting, and there are pockets of government distrust among<br />
the state’s voters that may make tough jobs tougher.<br />
There’s likely to be some ethics reform legislation, some debate over<br />
gun legislation and some tinkering with the unintended consequences of<br />
HB 87, the anti-immigration law that has snarled some applications for<br />
some professional and business license renewals. It should be an interesting<br />
session.<br />
<strong>Georgia</strong> <strong>Trend</strong>’s <strong>Legislative</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> provides contact information for legislators<br />

Dugan (R) will represent District 30. All other information in the guide<br />
