Trainee Represenatives
Firstly, on behalf of all trainees and the Deanery, I
would like to say a massive thank you to Jon
Bannard-Smith!
Jon has worked extremely hard behind the scenes
over the past couple of years to represent
trainee’s views and improve training in the North
West. Good luck for the future, you will be missed!
Also, thank you to everyone who put themselves
forward for the positions of Core training and
Higher training rep and to those of you who
voted.
There will now be three representatives (previously
two) spread over Core, Intermediate and Higher
training. I will be arranging the elections for the
new Intermediate (ST3&4) rep over the next few
months so if you are interested start thinking of
what to include in your manifesto.

ANAESTHETIC SOCIAL
There have been mutterings amongst some of the trainees
about demand for a deanery / regional social event as we
are lacking somewhat!
It’s obviously impossible for everyone to attend due to
work and family commitments but we’d like to get an idea
of who wants what...

Do YOU Have An Experience To Share?
The NW School of Anaesthesia hopes to improve
information sharing amongst trainees about
OOPE/OOPT/OOPR and opportunities for short term
medical missions/expeditions.
This will be useful for current and future trainees who
would appreciate advice from those who have
already gained experience in this area.
To facilitate this would trainees who have been
involved in any of these activities please complete
the respective questionnaires:
1. Short term medical missions/expeditions

E-Portfolio Survey
Thank you to those of you who completed
the recent E-portfolio survey, we had over
100 responses.
The general feeling was that trainees would
like training! The graph below shows the
response to the question ‘would you like
training?’

I presented the results at the last School
Board meeting and the net result is that
there will be some training arranged. I
have been pushing for this but due to a
staffing issue at the Deanery this is taking
longer than anticipated. I will keep you
informed in due course!
It may be of interest that everyone is that
very few people are using E-Portfolio
alone to keep a record of training. This
will have to be taken into account at
ARCPs in the near future!
