Bapst Builrs Project Mual Building for Christ as Servants of the King
Preparation for Construction
I. Elect leadership: Choose committees or leaders to represent and relate to the church and
assist in project development. These committees should include:
A. Prayer Committee. This is absolutely vital, as any Kingdom work of value needs the
direction of our God. Pray for wisdom, protection, unity, discernment and patience.
B. Financial Committee. This committee should be both visionary and practical.
Remember that the goal is to build enough to prepare for future needs, but do not
overbuild and paralyze the church financially.
C. Building Committee. This committee will be responsible for plan approval and
construction. It is vital to designate one person as the overall church construction
project coordinator so that daily decisions and situations that arise can be handled
efficiently and effectively. Construction decisions are made difficult if there is not a
single voice who can make decisions with authority. Building by committee only can
be a nightmare if someone is not given this responsibility.
D. Volunteer Team Committee. This committee is responsible for arranging adequate
housing and shower facilities for volunteer teams.
E. Meals/Snacks Committee. This committee is responsible for providing meals,
snacks, and drinks for those donating their time and labor. These needs vary with
each group. Normally, this would include breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack for break,
and dinner. This would further include preparing water coolers or bottled water for
teams every morning.
F. Site Go-Fer Committee. Assign at least a couple of church members who could be
at worksite daily to run errands, to clean-up worksite, and meet other miscellaneous
needs. It is important that these individuals be there when volunteer teams are
working on-site.
G. Decoration Committee. This committee is responsible for all interior furnishings and
decoration after construction.
H. Celebration Committee. This committee is responsible for planning a worship event
to celebrate God’s blessing in the completed building. Try to include at least one
representative from KBC Baptist Builders in this worship time of praise and thanks.
II.
Approve Floor Plans: Once floor plans and elevations are approved, changes cannot be
made without the approval of KBC Project Coordinator and Church/Mission Point Project
Coordinator. All change-order requests must be submitted to KBC Project Coordinator in
writing for approval.
III. Secure Builder’s Risk Insurance: This insurance is necessary to protect the Church/Mission
Point and volunteers during the construction process. Tool and material theft insurance is
required to cover all tools and materials including these provided by volunteer teams.
Usually this can be purchased through your current carrier.
