COMMUNITY ADDICTION TEAMS (CATS)
These services have been set up in
local areas, bringing together health
and social work addiction services
within one single team.
Staff will support, advise and assist you
to think about the ways in which alcohol
or drugs are affecting your life, those
around you and those you have
responsibility for.
This will involve an assessment, which will
decide what treatment and support you may
need. This could mean involving doctors,
psychiatrists, psychologists or other agencies.
After this assessment they may arrange
hospital care or residential rehabilitation if
needed. A specific service is also available
for young people (12 – 21), and to support
families and carers.
