198 Obstructing access to and<br />

from a footpath, driveway etc<br />

(1) A driver must not stop on a road in a position that obstructs access by<br />

vehicles or pedestrians to or from a footpath ramp or a similar way <strong>of</strong><br />

access to a footpath, or a bicycle path or passageway:<br />

(2) A driver must not stop on or across a driveway or other way <strong>of</strong> access<br />

for vehicles travelling to or from adjacent land.<br />

208 Parallel Parking<br />

Unless there are signs or markings on the road to indicate some other<br />

method, you must park parallel to the edge <strong>of</strong> the road and footpath.<br />

The rules are:<br />

(a) Park your vehicle so that it is facing in the same direction as the moving<br />

traffic;<br />

(b) On a two-way road, park your vehicle parallel to and as near as<br />

practicable to the left edge <strong>of</strong> the road;<br />

(c) On a one-way road, park parallel to and as near as practicable to the<br />

left or right edge <strong>of</strong> the road;<br />

179 Stopping in a loading zone<br />

1) A driver must not stop in a loading zone unless the driver is driving:<br />

(a) a commercial vehicle that is dropping <strong>of</strong>f, or picking up, goods<br />

(d) Where <strong>parking</strong> bays are marked on the road, leave your vehicle entirely<br />

within a single bay, unless the vehicle is too wide or long to fit<br />

completely within the bay;<br />

(e) Where there are no <strong>parking</strong> bays, leave at least one metre between<br />

your vehicle and the vehicles in front and behind.<br />

(b) a vehicle, other than a commercial vehicle, that is dropping <strong>of</strong>f,<br />

picking up, goods that are difficult to handle bec<strong>au</strong>se <strong>of</strong> their weight<br />

or size<br />

(In this regulation, “commercial vehicle” means a motor<br />

vehicle constructed solely or mainly for the carriage <strong>of</strong><br />

goods (including a vehicle commonly called a utility, but<br />

excluding a vehicle <strong>of</strong> the kind commonly called a station<br />

wagon or station sedan).<br />

2) A driver who is permitted to stop in a loading zone must not stay<br />

continuously in the zone for longer than 30 minutes.<br />

208(6) White Line<br />

If the road has a continuous dividing line or a dividing strip, the driver must<br />

position the vehicle at least 3 metres from any dividing line or dividing strip,<br />

unless otherwise indicated by information on or with a <strong>parking</strong> control sign.
