Feibelman garnered All-ODAC honors at No. 3 singles a season ago. He
went 12-10 in singles last season and enters this spring with a 25-16 career singles
mark.
"Seth is a smart player who is not going to beat himself," remarked Detwiler.
"He is an all-court player who will make you work for every point."
Sanford is the lone returning player to have earned All-ODAC honors in doubles
last season. He teamed with Shay to garner All-ODAC laurels at No. 3 doubles last
spring and has consistently ranked among the team's Top 8 singles players during
his first two seasons.
"If he's on, Stu can play with anyone in the country," said Detwiler of Sanford's
game. "He can hit a winner from anywhere on the court with a big forehand. He is
an excellent doubles player, but also is a nice addition to the singles lineup."
Bunn is another solid all-around player who can give W&L a lift in singles
or doubles. He carries a 16-5 career singles record and an 11-9 career doubles
mark.
"Nelson is an all-court player who has incorporated the net game into his
repertoire as he tries to be more aggressive," said Detwiler. "He comes from a great
high school program and he is an intelligent player."
McCardell notched a 5-5 record at a variety of singles positions last season
and teamed with Bunn at a variety of doubles positions. With a year under his belt,
Detwiler believes that he is ready to be among the top six singles positions this
season.
"Jamie is a fine athlete and has prior experience of having played soccer,"
noted Detwiler. "He is one of our quickest players, has an excellent forehand and
serve, and has really improved his doubles game."
Detwiler also expects
Meyers to be among the
Generals' top singles and
doubles players when healthy.
He has been battling through
injuries all season, but still
ranks among the team's top
players.
"Early on, he was among
our Top 4 in the challenge
matches," said Detwiler of
Meyers. "He is an intelligent
player with an excellent serve
and a solid all-around game.
His father played No. 1 at Duke
and Brent has inherited that
talent."
As for doubles, Detwiler
feels confident that he has his
top two teams decided. Ross
and Estes will team up at No.
1 doubles, while Malooly and
McCardell will comprise the
No. 2 doubles team. Any
combination of Bunn, Feibelman
and Sanford are likely to be in the mix at No. 3 doubles.
"I feel like we have a team that is good enough to rank somewhere between
12th and 15th in the country," said Detwiler. "We are going to play some tough
competition along the way and we'll see how it all plays out."
