2 In groups, discuss this question and report back to the class –
Why do you think it is forbidden for a teacher
to have a sexual relationship with a learner,
even if the learner is over the age of 16?
Sexual relationships between
teachers and learners are
forbidden. This is in line with
the teachers’ code of conduct
(SACE). If a teacher has a sexual
relationship with a learner, the
teacher will be held responsible
and disciplinary measures will
be taken against him/her. A
learner should be able to report
any inappropriate behaviour
without fearing negative
consequences.
