Product Expectations to Review with your Customer prior to Ordering 

Woven Wood Shades are a rare blend of far eastern yarns, grasses, oriental woods, and bamboo. The weaving process is 

guaranteed to make each shade unique. Dye lot, material bias, stretch, yarn and slat thickness, vary not just between roll 

to roll but within each roll. On the sheer patterns there is significant flair or twist. One side will tilt in towards the room 

while the other side will tilt towards the window. Bamboo patterns tend to arch out into the room especially on wide 

shades. Your customer must understand that these are natural products and each shade will be different to some degree. 

It is imperative that you familiarize yourself with all the notes regarding specific individual fabric issues.

Product Notes 

Some variations in color, minimal warpage, and significant material bias may occur. This 

includes a slight camber (arching out) and material twist resulting in the flaring out or in of 

the sides of the shade. Additionally, the edges of a shade may appear uneven due to slat and 

yarn migration. Slat shape, thickness, splices, cracked and uneven spacing should be expected. 

Pattern changes, as well as knots, splices, and thickness in the yarn and or grass material used 

is normal. These are all natural occurring tendencies of all woven wood products and are 

considered acceptable. Bamboo is green when harvested. Over time it will gradually turn a 

yellow-brown. Therefore, any attempt to color match bamboo shades with exact room colors 

will fail initially. Please allow several months for bamboo shades to reach their final color. The 

final color may or may not match the current swatch sample in our book. Returns for color 

variations will not be accepted. The gap between multiple shades on one headrail is 1/2”. The 

Simple Ascent lift system is not available for 3 or more shades on one headrail. Exact shade 

length can not be guaranteed due to considerable material stretching over time. We do not 

recommend bamboo panels exceed 24" in width when used with our Panel Track System.

Pattern changes, as well as knots, splices, and thickness in the yarn and or grass material 

used is normal. These are all natural occurring tendencies of all woven wood products and 

are considered acceptable. Woven woods using significant amounts of grasses tend to fray 

on the edges to the first yarn line and have multiple color variations. This is inherent to 

these patterns. Returns for fraying or color variations will not be accepted. The gap between 

multiple shades on one headrail is 1/2”. The Simple Ascent lift system is not available for 3 

or more shades on one headrail. Exact shade length can not be guaranteed due to considerable 

material stretching over time.

Woven Wood, or using a Twin Headrail System with a Pleated Shade in either 7140 

Room Darkening or 7141 Privacy material mounted behind the Woven Wood. If you 

would rather use a different color or style of shade material then is indicated on the 

chart at the right, you may choose any selection from Alanna Pleated or Solanna 7/16” 

Cellular. Price the shade and woven wood separately then add together. There is no 

additional surcharge. 

Style 

Liner Notes 

Valances on a shade with liner do not come lined. If you would like it 

to be lined there is a $5.00 net charge. If you order a Valance Only, it 

too may be lined at a net charge of $10.00 

Arches, A-Frames, Duo-Fold and shades using the Waterfall option 

can be lined. 

On patterns that have considerable stretch, attaching a liner may cause 

the woven wood material to billow slightly over time. 

We cannot cut down a shade with liner. 

Liners are not available for our Panel Track System. 

Shades with liners cannot be edge bound but can be edge trimmed.

The Alanna or Solanna shade mounted behind the woven wood using 

our Twin Headrail System can be made either using the standard lift 

system or our Simple Ascent. Simple Ascent Deluxe is not available 

for use with the Twin Headrail System. 

When using our Twin Headrail System, the Woven Wood shade in 

front can either be a standard roman or Waterfall style. It can not be 

a Duo-fold or Simple Ascent. 

Twin Headrail’s come with a small cutout made to the top right or left 

corner of the Woven Wood shade determined by which side the back 

shades controls are on. This allows the cords of the back shade to be 

positioned down the front of the Woven Wood for ease of operation. 

The valance of the Woven Wood hides this cutout. You may also 

specify a dark brown or black cord for the back shade so you don’t 

have a white cord showing through the front of the woven wood.

Roman Fold 

This is our most popular style. Both simple and elegant, the shade hangs down the back of the headrail and raises in subtle 

folds. When completely lowered, the shade hangs flat. A standard 6” valance (returns available at an additional charge) covers 

the headrail and conceals the shade’s hardware. When returns are ordered, we make the headrail 1” smaller (1/2” each side) 

so that the returns seat properly behind the valance face. A valance wider than the shade size can be ordered for a $10.00 Net 

surcharge. 

Roman Fold Using our Simple Ascent Lift System, provides easier operation when raising and lowering a large shade while maintaining 

Simple Ascent the appearance of a standard Roman Shade. We mount this shade on a larger headrail for greater strength and provide a 6” 

valance (returns available at an additional charge) that conceals the shade’s hardware.

Product Style Information 

Shade lowers from the top down, raises from the bottom up. Requires two cord locks; otherwise has the same elegant 

appearance as our Roman Fold shade. Not available as Waterfall style or used on our Twin Headrail System. 

Our Twin Headrail System allows for a Pleated or Cellular shade to be used as a liner behind the woven wood. We mount it 

for you on our largest headrail for superior strength so the installation is simple. Plus the controls for both shades are 

accessible from the front of the woven wood. Not available with Waterfall style or Duo-Fold shades. Front Woven Wood shade 

not available as Simple Ascent. Back shade can use simple ascent option for an additional surcharge of $15.00 Net. The front 

shade can be order as a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 head rail if desired. The back shade can be ordered as a 2 on 1 head rail but is not 

available as a 3 on 1 head rail. Two & Three on one head rail surcharges apply. 

A variation of our standard Roman Fold shade. The shade is mounted to the face of the headrail and hangs down the front 

concealing the hardware and eliminating the need for a valance. Please make your customer aware that operation is difficult 

and the material can fray if you are not careful because the pull cord is located behind the shade. There is no fabric coverage on 

the top of the headrail as the picture above illustrates. Not available for Duo-Fold or Twin Headrail systems. 

Designed with an extra large valance that extends across the Woven Wood in a straight horizontal line beginning at the base of 

the angle. The shade can be raised and lowered up to the bottom angle. Due to their unique construction the following patterns 

can not be used for this application: 4040W, 4043W, 4049W, 4050W, 4060W, 4072W, 4073W, 4074W, 4075W, 4076W, 

4077W, 4098W, 4099W. Paper templates are not required but providing one helps us make the angle cut accurately. Please do 

not fold the template. Roll it up and send it in a cardboard tube. The top of the shade comes Edge Trimmed at no-charge. 

A-Frame shades can be lined. 

Custom cut with small grommets placed near the outer edge. Product is installed with cup hooks. Bottom rail is a standard 

fabric fold. For all non perfect arches, a template is required. The entire arch comes Edge-Trimmed at no-charge. Arch shades 

can be lined. 

A stand-alone valance 6” high and mounted to our 1 1/2” headrail board. Options include heights greater than 6” and larger 

headrail boards. (see Options & Surcharges located below the individual pattern price charts. Valances can be lined. 

Offered in either a Double (Two 6” overlapping folds) or a Triple (Three 6” overlapping folds). These can be ordered as 

separate stand alone valances or to replace your shades standard 6” valance. For a stand alone valance, you have a choice 

between an 1 1/2”, 2 1/2”, or 3 1/8” head board. (returns available at an additional charge). Can not be edge bound. 

Minimum piece size is material full width (72” or 96” pattern dependent) by 12” high. Larger piece sizes must be ordered in 

6” height increments. $5.00 Net surcharge per square foot. 

Outside Mount - Hidden Brackets with wing nuts are used for all outside mounts. Extension blocks are available for 

additional projection. Twin Headrail uses L-Brackets with long bolts & nuts. 

Inside Mount - You may use our universal hidden brackets with wing nuts or simply screw the wooden headrail directly to the 

inside upper sill. The Twin Headrail must be installed with 2” screws through the headrail and into the upper sill.

Edge Binding is a 1 1/4” sewn on cotton trim that folds over and completely wraps around the sides of the woven wood & valance. $50.00 Net Cost 

For a standard woven wood, edge binding is applied to both vertical sides of both the shade and the valance, as well as to the bottom of the valance 

and returns. Edge binding is not applied to the bottom of the shade nor the vertical sides of the valance returns. In the case of duo-fold shades, we 

can not Edge Bind where the fabric is attached to the top of the moving center rail. Edge binding can not be applied to shades that have a drapery 

lining attached. Edge binding can be applied to the front shade of the Twin Headrail system instead. 

Edge Binding is required to be used on all Panel Tracks in order to reduce stretching. Edge binding is applied to both vertical sides and across the 

top of each panel as well as the bottom of the valance and returns. It is not possible to apply edge binding to the vertical sides of the valance due to 

the unique construction of the valance system. Do not add the surcharge for Edge Binding Panel Tracks; it is already included in the pricing.

Product Notes 

Our Wood Accents program was designed to provide 

an inexpensive way to accent your pattern choice in our 

Melhanna Woven Wood collection. Wood Accents consist 

of three pieces of wood in either the Euro or Modern styles. 

They are placed at the top of the valance, bottom of the 

valance, and bottom of the shade. Wood Accents can not 

be used on valance returns. They can be used on Hobbled 

valances, A-frames, Duo-Fold, Twin, Waterfall, Simple 

Ascent, and standard Roman Folds. They are not available 

for Arches. We are currently working on the sampling for 

this program. Until it becomes available, you can cross 

reference the colors offered here with those in our 

ForestView Wood Blind color selector. The color Ebony is a 

black stain which is now offered in both our Wood Accents 

and Windance Cornice programs.

Butted Blinds: We can create an overlap for 2 to 4 channel cord draw tracks 

if you choose to butt two panel tracks together (ie 1 stack left, butting to 1 

stack right). This must be specified at the time the order is placed. It cannot

Surcharge is included in pricing. Wide heavy woven 3.5 mm Cording 

wood panel will have a slight bow and even though 

they are edge bound, a certain amount of stretching 

will occur. We make every attempt to manufacture

After several weeks pass, you may need to return 

the panels to us for length adjustments. We will do
