Poetic and international in scope,
Solaar’s early lyrics dealt extensively
with the struggle facing black
migrants settled in France, battling
racial intolerance and winning the
rapper fans across Africa and even
further afield – even in the US, where
he guested on Gangstarr's
Jazzmatazz project, and contributed
a track to Tommy Boy’s 1993
compilation, ‘Planet Rap’.
Most recently, he’s returned to the
forefront of French popular culture
with his seventh album, 2007’s
‘Chapitre 7’, which struck a darker
tone, dealing with themes including
gun crime and conspiracy theories,
and featuring the rockier
‘Da Vinche Claude’.

Amp Fiddler has continued to push
boundaries with his genre-spanning
experiments in sound. With a list of
past collaborators that’s all but
unparalleled - who else could claim to
have worked with artists as diverse as
George Clinton, Maxwell, J Dilla and
Raphael Saadiq? – he has remained in
high demand with both living legends
and rising stars.
More recently, Amp’s been collaborating
with the legendary Sly and Robbie,
played live with Tony Allen and Theo
Parrish and gone into the studio to
record for the highly anticipated Jay
Electronica album.

material from his forthcoming album
‘Ampidelic World’ and expect a few
