THE MILITARY DEPARTMENT<br />
Under the administration <strong>of</strong> Captain Luther B. Felker the Military<br />
Department has been built up to the greatest pOllible efficiency. Since<br />
the admillion <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> into the Reserve Officers Training Corps.<br />
four complete years <strong>of</strong> military work can be obtained.<br />
Due to the present national crisis the work has been taken up with<br />
greater interest than in palJt years; practically all the men <strong>of</strong> the Junior<br />
and Senior clalJlJes have taken advantage <strong>of</strong> the advanced work and the<br />
extensive equipment which has been furnished by the government. No<br />
encampment was held thilJ year. but the time was given over to intensive<br />
training in both the American and English system <strong>of</strong> bayoneting, grenade<br />
throwing, trench work, and practical military held problems.<br />
The annual Federal inlJpection <strong>of</strong> the Cadet Battalion was held on<br />
Saturday. April 20. by Lieutenant Cyrus F. Dugger. N. A. Lieutenant<br />
Dugger gave the battalion a very thorough inspection. The report which<br />
will go to headquarters will undoubtedly rank <strong>Idaho</strong> higher in the military<br />
world than she has ever been before. For this high rank too much<br />
credit cannot be given Captain Felker.<br />
Company B won the highest honors in competitive drill. The <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />
<strong>of</strong> the winning company were: Captain Roy Thompson. First Lieutenant<br />
Richard B. Olt. and Second Lieutenant Pitman Atwood.
