Two partner network days,held at Schüco’s network centre
in Milton Keynes during the last week in March, proved
hugely popular. Over 200 fabricators, architects and main
contractors attended the sessions,indicating that a measure of
confidence may be returning to the UK market.
The topics covered included an introduction to some of
Schüco’s latest innovations among which is the AWS 90.SI+
passive house window – the only aluminium window to have
achieved passive house performance levels – the VarioAir
window trickle ventilator and enhancements to the ADS 90
range of doors.
There were also accounts of the first case-studies from
Northern Germany of Schüco’s 2 o System, a combination of
products that acting together could help to cut CO2
emissions by between 60% and 80%, a decrease which experts
believe is needed if the rise in global temperatures is to be
kept at, or below, the critical level of 2 o Celsius.
In addition, the audience heard about Schüco ProSol TF,the
company’s recently-introduced thin-film PV window and
façade system which is being seen as breaking new ground in
BIPV-enabled architecture, the new AWS 55 CL outwardopening
window and the USC 65.HI unitised façade system.
Other sessions covered British and European fire safety
standards and Schüco’s range of fire protection products,
including SHEVS, in relation to approved document B, as well
as the SchüCAL+ estimating system and recent innovations in
Schüco tooling and machinery.
Overall, the message of the two days was that although the
market is still challenging, there are some hopeful indicators
and that Schüco’s continuing investment in the UK is helping
to ensure that its partners are well positioned to benefit when
the recovery happens. ❐
