Bank bailouts in the last few years,
coupled with our country’s recent
credit downgrade at the hands of
Standard & Poor’s have subjected
financial institutions to much scrutiny by
both the media and ratings agencies.
Even the credit union industry finds itself
under a watchful microscope.
While nearly 400 banks have failed since the economic downturn
in 2007, fewer than 100 credit unions nationwide have failed,
and over 80% of credit union assets are held by very strong
credit unions. Overall, 94% of credit unions, holding 96% of
credit union assets, are well-capitalized.
I’m proud to say that you can count on Hudson Heritage Federal
Credit Union to be among the strongest of credit unions. We are
safe, secure and strong, with a full 71 years of success behind us.
Despite our country’s recent credit downgrade status, our
accounts are insured up to $250,000 and backed by the full
faith and credit of the U.S. government.
We have never needed a taxpayer bailout, we continue to
